The magic of the Greek islands is best experienced by the sea. Ammoudi Fish Tavern lets you relax and gaze at the crystal clear blue waters of the Aegean, the passing cruise ships, the fishing boats and the evening parade of old ships taking visitors to dreamy sunsets.
Amazing!! Fresh fish, fast and polite service and normal prices! But the best thing about this place is the location, next to the sea..One advice, go after the sunset so you won't have problem with the traffic!
We came for dinner the first night of our honeymoon. We arrived to our reservation 30 minutes early due to the walk down the hill and asked if we could just sit at the bar until our time and they graciously sat us early. Recommended...one of the best wines we’ve ever had (Gavalas Karsano). We ordered the zucchini balls and the wrapped feta with honey for appetizers then our server asked if we were big fish fans and we both said yes. We ended up getting a huge platter with some of the grouper, lobster, prawn, and scampi we’ve ever had. Not to mention every single server there is so friendly and kind! They even have unmatched views of the sunset. Will be back! Tell them Super Mario sent you.More
The food here was very lovely, and the view was even lovely-er. The menu was a bit confusing and felt that it would have been useful for the staff to explain it, as it felt a bit like a minefield, especially due to the high...prices.More
Couldn’t rate the surroundings and view more highly. But the service was a bit unfriendly/impatient and the food was probably the most average (and most expensive) meal we had on Santorini.
Definitely walk down to Ammoudi Bay abd watch the sunset - but wouldn’t really...recommend this place for more than the view.More
Similar to other reviews about this place. We were looking forward to experiencing the food and atmosphere at Ammoudi; we had been recommended it and based on pics the view looked epic. The view / atmosphere was amazing. The food so so; it is expensive...but you are paying for fresh fish and the location. The factor which made our experience here not 100% was the service - slightly arrogant waiters (you should never assume but we reckon they knew they had prime location and didn’t care). Again similar to other reviews our waiters were difficult to get hold of - their attention to detail lacked (another restaurant we went to in Oia - Fino - service was on point - maybe Ammoudi could learn from them).
When you are paying 100+ euros - 200 euros you expect quality service and really here you are paying for good seafood and the view.
I’m big on service hence why the score is low but this place is still worth visiting just don’t expect the waiters to show interest. The meme pretty much sums it up.More
We made a reservation far ahead, excited to eat here. So disappointing! View was great, food was OK...can't tell you how the drinks were...we were there for 3.5 hours, saw our server a few times...ordered drinks/wine 3 times and no drinks ever arrived. We were...up high and watched dozens of plates being delivered to the wrong tables..feel bad for the servers as they appeared to be quite overwhelmed and unable to keep up.More
We were so excited to climb the stairs down to Ammoudi Bay. We were down there right around lunch time and decided to eat here. We got seated and was asked if we wanted to check out their catch of the day. We picked the...mixed grill and then later shown the price that lunch would be 360 euros. By that time it was too late to change the order so we just went with it and felt so uncomfortable that they weren't up front about the prices. Service was terrible. AVOID THIS PLACE!!More
The food was good (which is why I have given them one star) but the staff were so rude to us. We have made online booking to make sure we have a good seat by the water as we were celebrating our anniversary, we paid...€20 for the reservation and people that got there before us (without a booking) got a better seat than us! They forgotten our bread which we had to remind them about when our main course came. No one came over to check if everything was okay. We asked the waiter if we can go to one of their upstairs table to have some drinks and watch the sunset, he said absolutely fine so we paid the bi walked over and his colleague told us we were not allowed if we knew that we wouldnt of left our table!
They treated us like such an inconvenience, we expected so much more considering the place is not cheap at all!! They have ruined our whole evening, don’t recommend and definitely won’t be coming back.More
What a beautiful location to view the sunset at Oia. The food and wine is excellent as are the attentive staff. For the best experience ask for “Prince Harry”.
Ordering the beautiful fresh fish or the grilled octopus is highly recommended
