I've been coming here since I was a child. It's a small neighborhood bistro with German based food of which the quality has remained consistent throughout the years. They have a separate bar from the dining room so if you are going for either dinner or drinks this place is a good local bet!

We have had numerous delightful dinners at the LVI Bistro, formerly known as the Locust Valley Inn, over the past several years. The food is excellent and the service is very good. In addition to the attractive dining room, there is a separate bar area where you can also have dinner. The menu is extensive with daily specials. There is... More

Four of us had dinner at the Inn. We did not have reservations but, even though they were busy, they seated us quickly in the main dining room. Service was friendly and experienced and the food was excellent. Our dishes ranged from Bratwurst, Sauerbraten, to Long Island Duck and short-ribbed ravioli. We all had a fine time and recommend trying... More

I went to dinner on $12 Tuesday special. There were lots of dishes to choose from, including king crab legs. I wished I chose that dish because of the amount they served. I did chose steak and shrimp dish that was delicious. I would recommend this restaurant

Its been four years and many restaurants ago since we visited the Locust Valley Inn. We liked it the first time and we liked it even more today. The decor and service is first rate. And the food is top notch. We had crab cakes, pea soup, flounder almond, and a crab and shrimp salad. All were delicious. This restaurant... More

I had a 20% off coupon for The Locust Valley Bistro, valid if you pay in cash, so we tried it out for Sunday dinner. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, with dark wood beams and a fireplace decorated for the fall. The lovely waitress who served us could not have been nicer and the service was excellent. I wish... The Locust Valley Inn is a small, pleasant looking restaurant just north of the main business intersection on Birch Hill Road. The exterior is white stucco with designs of board, dark wood timbers reminiscent of the Alsace region of France for very good reason, European-born Chef Marcel trained in Strassburg in the heart of Alsace. The Alsace region at times... More

The restaurant has a really nice atmosphere with the open fireplace and the dark beams. The food selection is nice, there is a lot of German specials, Wiener schnitzel, potato pancakes, red cabbage etc. There were no kids menu, but they were happy to half portions. Every main comes with soup or salad. The portions are generous. Everything was a... More

I always order the same thing when I come here: the warm mushroom salad and the penne ala vodka (vegetarian). We get a bottle of the Benziger Chardonnay and it's a nice quiet meal in the main dining room. Most of the patrons eat in the bar area; that's what keeps the restaurant afloat. This is reliable and comfortable.
