We were in search of snow, found this place on the recommendation of a friend. Bartender's were great, knowledgeable about the area, the food was good and reasonably priced. We went back the second night we were in the area. Just as much fun as the first time! Take note, Thursday's are wing night!

Headed for the Deer Head in Elizabethtown we pulled into Baxter Tavern about halfway there as a nasty wintry mix made driving very hazardous. (Lake Placid was without power from late afternoon until next morning due to the storm). Baxter Tavern offers a warm mountain inn atmosphere, especially welcome after after a treacherous drive up Baxter Mountain from Keene Valley... More

this is my go to location when I'm dying for a great hamburger and onion soup... I love the Adirondack atmosphere with log beams and a great fireplace to sit by in both rooms.. their menu is your normal fair but their soups and specials always invite you to try them.. I'm there for the baxter burger which I have... More

My wife and I had a very enjoyable Sunday evening dinner at Baxter Mountain Tavern. The ambience is pleasant and relaxing. We started with the hummus as an appetizer; we enjoyed that a lot, however if you don't like the flavor of cumin I'd suggest another appetizer. I had the pork shanks which were nicely prepared, and my wife was... More

Having a horrible experience at the Ausable Inn, AGAIN, we headed up the hill the Dave's. This is a true Adirondack legend. Clean, great food and the people are fantastic. If your hiking in the high peaks, don't even bother stopping anywhere in the Valley. Years ago I would have included The Elm Tree Inn and The Spread Eagle. Now... More

This is a rustic place, with hearty fare, and an out in the middle of nowhere setting with a lovely view - it's great, and reflective of an Adirondack experience, for sure. Soups, sandwiches, burgers, and dinner entrees on the menu all seem simple and reasonably priced. The burger (very big) and turkey rueben at our table were both very... More

Food is ok but very pricey for a tavern out in no mans land. Ravoli's looked like frozen and they were $20.00. The hambuger was very expensive and not great. I think they need to revamp the menu.

Not bad - not great. American-style food at mid-range prices. Bar and restaurant. Plenty of parking.
