OK - it has been years since we were here. Chappaqua isn't far from us- more we just forgot about it. Sunday we went again. The place is not cheap- but almost every night they have a 3 course dinner that is well above average. A crisp Caesar salad - good salmon - a chocolate dessert- and a good martini... More

I enjoyed the time there. We had the Chef's tasting menu and were not disappointed. The only drawback had to do with the valet parking. We were backed up so long in the driveway, I really wished we could just park ourselves. We called the restaurant to let them know we were going to be late for our reservation even... More

This is a favorite for the great food coming out of the kitchen. We prefer to sit in the bar (cozy with a roaring fireplace) in the winter and in the garden in good weather. Never had a bad experience. Excellent wine cellar. Get a tour of it if you can. The sommeliers know their stuff. We do date night,... More

We were taking someone out for a birthday celebration in a group of 5 adults. There was a snow storm during the day but we managed to get there on time. Some in our group including myself have been here many times before and that is one reason we were so disappointed. The restaurant has been slowly declining in major... More

I have been here several times and always found it to be a charming place to meet family and friends who are nearby. This time we all had a late brunch, all the usual stuff. Excellent service in a pleasant place.

Our previous experience over the last few years at this restaurant was always great. We love the bar area, as it is more cozy and has a nice fireplace and a piano player. Arrived at 6pm and were seated promptly. It was very noticeable that there was a lot of "waiters" hovering around, I must have seen at least 6,... More

We had a 2:30 reservation on Thanksgiving. 4 people, one being a child. We sat downstairs which was very light with a wall of windows looking out onto the back yard. The decor was white and bright with a small vase heaping with fresh flowers on each table. Wait staff came around with a basket of bread and each diner... More

We have been going to Crabtree's Kittle House for more than 30 years. Chef Jay Lippin has a magical touch with the locally sourced meats, fish, and produce. He has even started curing his own prosciutto; it is phenomenal! I really like it when a veteran chef has the curiosity and the desire to expand on what he has already... More

Whenever we look for a special dinner at a special place, Crabtee's Kittle House Restaurant always wins. The ambiance, service and food is top notch. It almost does not need to be said that thier wine cellar is the best in the world. Leo, the wine steward is one of the most knowledgeable in the industry. Always allow him to... More

What a shame this place is so cozy and charming from the outside but what a disappointment on the inside. Lobster bisque taste like it came from a can. Bass had no seasoning or flavor whatsoever. I will say the dessert was good but its probably purchased off site.

In its history that spans more than 200 years, the Kittle House's timber frame has held many things: a guesthouse, prohibition-era roadhouse, school, inn, and restaurant. The stately Kittle House began humbly in 1790 as a barn on Ivy Hill Farm. The Kittle family named the eponymous barn in the 1880s, when they took over the farm and renamed the future restaurant and inn The Kittle Barn and Carriage House. In 1890, Moses Taylor V purchased the farm and surrounding 500 acres to raise his prize cattle, renaming it Annandale Farm. Following Taylor's death in 1928, the Kittle House began to develop its livelier reputation as a roadhouse. In 1931 the Kittle House took on a primmer role as the Noble School for Girls. Unsuccessful, the school closed after five years, and thus the Kittle House tradition as a restaurant and inn began. Lawrence Farms EastIn 1931 The Kittle House thrived as The Lawrence Farms Inn. The Westchester Playhouse, located on the adjacent property of what is now the Mt. Kisco Country Club, was in its prime. The birthplace of many illustrious careers, the Inn often played host to famous, and soon-to-be-famous, actors, including a young Henry Fonda, Margaret Sullavan and Talullah Bankhead. In 1949 the Inn was sold to William Carlson, who shortened the name to "The Kittle House." Since 1981, the Kittle House has been owned and operated by the Crabtree family, who has returned the House to its former glory through extensive renovations and enhancements, including the beautification of the grounds, the expansion of the Atrium Dining Room, and the transformation of the former stables into an award-winning wine cellar. The most recent and exciting changes at Crabtree's Kittle House include a striking redesign by Christan P. Arkay-Leliever of KMS Team. With a mindful use of ecological materials and thoughtful attention to detail, the House exudes a quiet elegance, befitting its charmed past.
