Ok first you have to understand that I have been taken to or gone myself to this restaurant for over 45 years. It has never failed me. This tight spaced family style seating restaurant is a cornerstone of Arthur Ave. There are No Menus. If you want something you ask, they make it. Oh boy do they make it! On... More

Went in on a busy Saturday evening and was seated with a large group. No menus but the waiter (a charming veteran of many meals) offered some suggestions. The stuffed artichoke was super as well as the rigatoni Ala vodka. The chicken parm was very disappointing. It reminded me of my college days cooking chicken rondelets from Weaver with a... More

My son was visiting form out of town, so we decided on some old world food. This is always a fun place. The food is still great. Love that you don't uses a menu and what you choose is fresh and waiter recommended. We shared their salad with cheeses, salami, peppers, stuffed peppers, chicken parmigiano with pasta, wine and crusty Italian... More

We stop in for lunch every couple of months after visiting the New York Botanical Gardens. The food never disappoints. We love the clams oregonato, antipasto, and the eggplant parmigiana. Wait staff is always friendly and attentive, the portions substantial, and the prices reasonable.

The clientele, local and knowledgeable! Exquisite cuisine in a lovely dining room. Almost anti- something, like anti- haut! Waiters, handsome and direct. There are no menus!! Although there is one on the stairs, which you are urged to photograph with your phone. The food is fabulous?

Been going here once a year for the past 25 years. I still think it was better ten or fifteen years ago but it's still a very good place to eat now. Family style with very nice large portions. Had the Zuppa de Pesce and the chicken scarpariello with salad and broccoli rabe on the side. Definitely a good place... More

The best Italian Restaurant in New York City and probably the best restaurant in NYC. It's near Fordham Road and Fordham College.

This was my first trip to Arthur Ave. in the Bronx. I'd always heard that it was the "real little italy" in NY. We went for lunch and it was really good. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. There were 5 of us and we all had a great time.

Johnny 1944 describes the place perfectly, and for all the things he complains about are the reasons that I love the place. Yes, the seating is cafeteria style. If you're lucky you sit with friendly strangers and have great conversation. Yes, there are no menus, but the waiters make the selection process easy, "You want pasta, chicken, beef... Okay, the...
