We had dinner here while stopping in the area on our way to AZ. I had a filet for dinner, it was absolutely PERFECT! I can be very picky when it comes to steaks, and I have not one complaint! The decor was fitting, rustic, etc. The entire place was clean and all staff were polite and courteous. Highly recommend... More

We arrived in Gallup after a long drive (I'd planned on stopping in Grants to make the next day's drive 60 miles shorter) and passed this place on the way into town. We both agreed this would be our dinner stop after we checked in. What a gem, totally unexpected to me but oh those lucky residents. The staff were... More

Though the atmosphere is rustic, with saddles as décor, this is likely the closest to fine dining you'll find in Gallup. I'll start with the wine list....surprisingly good! Service was very friendly and knowledgeable. This was a pass thru dinner on our travels as opposed to a destination, so top quality steaks were not on our agenda. We opted for... More

We ate dinner here while staying overnight on our way to Vegas. We loved the decor and our food was delicious. We each had a beer and shared the bacon wrapped shrimp app which was very good. I had steak and lobster tail and hubby had the green chili strip. All very good. You can't go wrong here. Recommend.

I don't understand how this restaurant can be the best in this town. I started with Green Chili Stew which while flavorful as no better than the same stew on the breakfast buffet at the Hampton Inn. I had the ribeye which was not tender and hardly had any flavor. My steak and the stuffed bake potato came warm... not... More

We were looking for a lighter meal and were not disappointed by ordering from the senior menu. The meals were reasonable and the service was superior.

On our way home along Route 66, from California to Ontario Canada we checked out TripAdvisor to see where we should stop for dinner. The positive comments totally sold us so we pulled up there at approx. 8:00 pm. Everything was exactly as written. Service was excellent - EVERYONE was over the top nice and wanting to help. The food... More

Not only was the food outstanding, but the service was impeccable. We pulled into Gallup, late, after a long road trip. We found Badlands on TripAdvisor. We loved it and will return the next time we are through Gallup.

OH my. We found ourselves in Gallup for the night. My father was tired but hungry. We checked online for a spot close and we found Badlands. Getting there the area looked a bit rough but when we got there the place was really nice. The staff was so efficient and friendly. When the food came we were overwhelmed with... More

Not a chain, Badlands offers true New Mexico hospitality and taste- for those of you traveling through, it's the place where locals go when they want a meal that's truly a cut above the rest, and relax with friends and neighbors. There's no dress code...no pretentiousness...just beef that's been wet-aged for 21 days, cut in-house and cooked to order...combine these with an ice cold beer or excellent bottle of wine... and you've got the stuff a cattleman's dreams are made of!
