My friend and I had been in Indonesia for 2 weeks and had tried he menu at our hotel, so we deceived to look for something. The temptation of a Western meal was a big draw for us. We arrived and the tables were full,...so we shared a table with a very pleasant Irish couple that gave us suggestions. We ordered an appetizer, IRC’s Fav and the schnitzel thinking of small plates served at previous restaurants. We were lucky that the staff forgot the appetizer since the meals were HUGE. The salad to start was very fresh and a reasonable size. The Ric’s Fav is an enhanced cordon blue and was massive, the taste was an incredible combination that the Gorgonzola really enhanced, but didn’t over power the dish. It was fried perfectly and on an egg wash and bread crumbs, so not overpowering. The meat was moist and not greasy even though it was fried. The chicken was probably 6-7 inches long and 4 inches wide and almost an inch thick, so a massive piece of meat. The schnitzel was 2 pieces of pounded veal with both perfectly cooked and only a bread crumb breading and moist meat. There were 2 pieces of meat with both being 5-6 inches long and 3-4 inches wide and maybe 1/2 inch thick, so healthy pieces of meat and way more than I could eat. I ordered a baked potato as my side and it came with 2 smaller potatoes with a yogurt, garlic and onion sauce that was very tasty. For desert we chose the chocolate cake with a scoop of ice cream that was one of the better chocolate cake I have had. It was very light with no icing. So it was a very good combination and a substantial piece of cake. We had a couple of cocktails that were well made without skimping on the alcohol. The total at the end of the night was a little over 600,000 with sounds like a lot, but only about $40 US. If you are hungry while in Tulanben area I would definitely recommend Chops and Hops without reservation. As a follow up we returned for our last evening and shared a single Ric’s Fav and the desert for a more reasonable amount of food and still didn’t finish all of it with 2 people.More
