I was impressed that at very short notice; 30 minutes to be precise, this recently upgraded restaurant on the estate - and where I have eaten some years before - was able to accommodate a table of 16. We were seated at a long table outside under the large trees which was fine - once the chain saw noise nearby... More

Can't say it has anything special but was nice to visit, waiter straight told us it's his first day but he was so friendly open and charismatic so we didn't notice any failure.

Arrived at 10:35 on a Wednesday, I requested a menu and was given the breakfast menu, asked for the lunch menu which was promptly provided, however when I ordered a burger off the lunch menu I was told that lunch is only from 12:00, I asked what is available between 10:30 and 12:00 (see photo) and was told that I... I also reviewed this restaurant under Lourensford. Easy going lunch or supper restaurant. Good place to take you kids along to enjoy the outdoor play area. Food was average and service a bit slack but all and all a pleasant experience. I would not go here for a special occasion but rather as my local go to place. Check the... More

Cape Town has to have the best restaurants in the world so when you have average it is noticeable. Not great that they didn't have my booking despite showing my confirmation email but they did get us a good table in the end. The waiter was very good and the menu very nice. My pizza which was a special was... More

I've been to the Millhouse Kitchen three times already. Twice for breakfast and once for lunch and it has been an absolute pleasure. The Lourensfort Estate is nestled in the valley below the Hottentots-Holland mountain range which creates the perfect setting. The atmosphere comes from a combination of rugged and stylish finishing and decor. The food is delisous and very... More

We were taken to lunch by good friends, who had been to the Millhouse Kitchen a few times. What a wonderful eating experience and great menu. The grounds were beautiful too and next time we would eat outside, as the gardens are a sight to behold! We highly recommend that you try this marvelous eating experience. We will definitely be... We love Millhouse! We often come here for a nice breakfast sitting outside and looking out over the beautiful gardens of the Lourensford Wine Estate. The staff is friendly and the food is very good. This is a great place to come and unwind.

We unfortunately was to late in the afternoon to order from the main menu due wine tasting (which was also great!) and had to order from the from the smaller menu. Wow, the thinnest crust I ever had on a pizza and it was excellent and mouth watering!

Description
Founded in 1700, Lourensford Estate has married its historic heritage with a vision to be at the forefront of modern wine technology and a leader amongst South African Wine producers.

Owner & Executive Chef, Bjorn Guido's cooking career started at The Greenhouse at Cellars-Hohenort under chef Peter Templehoff. He then moved abroad and joined Babington House, part of the SOHO HOUSE group under the renowned Ronnie Bonetti of River Cafe London. After gaining experience abroad, he returned home and took up the role of Head Chef at The Franschhoek Kitchen on the Holden Manz Wine Estate.

Food provenance and sustainability are core to Millhouse's philosophy. The eatery's contemporary barn-conversion interior puts a modern twist on classic elements, featuring a mix of leather banquette seating and reclaimed timber walls. Bjorn's aim was to create a neighbourhood feel where guests can relax and enjoy each other's company. Watch as food is prepared in the expansive open kitchen and Italian style pizza's are delivered fresh from the wood fired oven.
