We just had lunch at La Motte. The setting is absolutely stunning and the prices are good. Sadly it was not as good as last time we were there due to both service and menu. Last time it was truly exquisite and this is three years ago. Maybe the chef has changed. So while I will certainly go back I... More

Had dinner here with my wife. Wow! The food, the wine, surrounds and the atmosphere all just click! When you enter the estate you just know here is something different and special.

Delicious food and service. Great stop after a wine tasting which is equally excellent. Both worth the visit

The Starter and dessert was good. Unfortunately, I decided to order the beef (I believe, "Grass Fed Short Rib) as my main. Even more unfortunately, the ladies all followed my lead. When the dish arrived, it was immediately clear that it had been burnt. It was extremely dry and had a strong, unmistakable burnt meat taste. I still can't believe... More

I had the paired tasting menu, the other half had the steak special, both were excellent (I thought the wines were the best I'd tasted in SA). Great service from Kobus and especially Sherrman. Oh nearly forgot the cheese desert is so different, highly recommended.

We had an evening meal here: I went for the 5 course menu whilst my husband went for the 3 course steak special. All of the food and the wine was of a very high standard but the best bit was the service and the atmosphere. We felt neither rushed nor as if we were kept waiting and then realised... More

Stunning surroundings with an added bonus of visiting the Pierneef Museum before having lunch. Such history! Lovely light - glassed in restaurant. You almost feel like you are in a conservatory. Excellent service and good choice of wine and food pairing available. The cheese platter at the end is really worth ending off the meal with friends.

We have eaten at many Fine Dining restaurants in CT. Camphos in Somerset West, The Greenhouse in Constantia, Foliage in Franschhoek, just to name a few....so lets try the Winelands Tea experience at La Motte. It sounded reasonable @ R165/head. The Restaurant and surrounds were extremely beautiful and relaxing. Kobus our waiter tried his beast to explain the "menu" choices.???... More

This is such a lovely setting and ideal for a family lunch on a Sunday. The staff are amazing and the food looks like something out of a gourmet magazine ! I eat with my eyes first and this was definitely a feast for both the eyes and the taste-buds. Relax under the trees after lunch with your dessert &... More

We had the sunday family lunch. Felt like eating at home, with the different foods plated on the table and you can dish yourself. Almost like a buffet but with no Q. Meticulously prepared food, presented beautifully with the friendly staff on standby, makes this a true Boland quisine experience. Only negative: too much food for two people- we sent... More

Description
The name of the restaurant was inspired by La Motte's admiration of South African artist Jacob Hendrik Pierneef (1886 - 1957). Pierneef's creativity in portraying the beauty of the South African landscape is echoed in the restaurant's offering of traditional cuisine with a modern interpretation.

The restaurant interior blends beautifully with the external surroundings - a fresh, natural look inside is embraced by tranquil gardens and majestic oak trees - where a Winelands Tea with a selection of home-baked delights from the La Motte Farm Shop can be enjoyed.

The exclusively arranged Pierneef a La Motte Chef's Table offers a fine-dine menu in line with guests' preferences, as pre-arranged with Chef Michelle Theron, as well as a harmoniously complementing wine selection
