We got to sample 8 wines, 4 white, 4 red. They had us taste a red and a white together to switch up our pallet. It was a very nice wine tasting.

We visited the restaurant on a romantic breakaway. We had the 5 course menu and i must say it’s a bit too much if you are not extremely hungry. Rather go for the 3course, as they wine pairings are excellent. The staff was attentive and...More

When visiting La Motte, one simply expects the best of the best - not sure why but there it is. It failed our high flying expectations completely. The table we had was lovely and the restaurant decoraton is great but somehow the restaurant is too...More

We went to visit the winery and do some tasting, which was great already, and then decided to have lunch there, and it was the best decision we could make! The care in treating the food resulted in deliciousness and care for even the smallest...More

The restaurant is beautifully presented and makes dinner a special event. However the food was disappointing, there was no sign of the named chef so whether this was the reason or not I do not know. One of the mains and one of the desserts...More

We visited late morning for tea and cake, opting for rooibos and hummingbird cake. The location is spectacular and it seems no expense has been spared in relation to the decor and furniture that is dotted arounds the gardens and inside the restaurants. We opted...More

We came to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary with my eldest son & his wife. On Sundays, in keeping with their values, they recreate the traditional Sunday family lunch, elevated to the nth degree. One needs to book a table. Before the starter a variety...More

Went there with family in a group of 6. Booked well in advance to make sure we had a table, as seems very popular. Menu was varied and good, while wine list was excellent. Restaurant stocked wines from all over, which was great to see....More

The food was unusual. I highly recommend the the savoury waffle as a starter. I have never seen this before. The venison was kudu which had plenty of favour but personally I like my meat a little on the raw side. We finished off with...More

The name of the restaurant was inspired by La Motte's admiration of South African artist Jacob Hendrik Pierneef (1886 - 1957). Pierneef's creativity in portraying the beauty of the South African landscape is echoed in the restaurant's offering of traditional cuisine with a modern interpretation. The restaurant interior blends beautifully with the external surroundings - a fresh, natural look inside is embraced by tranquil gardens and majestic oak trees - where a Winelands Tea with a selection of home-baked delights from the La Motte Farm Shop can be enjoyed. The exclusively arranged Pierneef a La Motte Chef's Table offers a fine-dine menu in line with guests' preferences, as pre-arranged with Chef Michelle Theron, as well as a harmoniously complementing wine selection
