We are devistated to hear about the closure of Cafe BonBon. This was the place we visited everytime we travelled to the Cape. Another closure due to harsh effect that Covid had on business. As per the sms we received: "Café BonBon at La Petite...Dauphine It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing the closure of Café BonBon. Our thoughts are with the entire team, some of whom have been with us from the beginning. We would like to thank them for all heir hard work, commitment & devotion. We deeply regret the effect that this closure will have on all of them, We wish to sincerely thank everybody who has been supportive of us throughout these delightful years.More

I arrived at Cafe Bon Bon, recommended to me by my Airbnb host. I was utterly dissapointed and frankly angry, after I stood there for about 5 minutes waiting for a server to acknowledge me and seat me at a table. The servers were there,...yes, and they completely ignored me. The least they could do was tell me they’ll be with me in a minute but apparently even that was too much to ask for. Cafe Bon Bon seriously needs to train their waiters better - it wasn’t even rush hour.More

Since dominique and Archie left its been nothing but trouble getting answers and agreements from the owners, we had our wedding planned with Archie and dominique and when they weren't able to stay due to covid ownership handed back to the owners of the farm....What a struggle. They added 100k to the original agreement and said it is what it is. Aren't you people even interested in at least some money in this trying time? Trying to extort guests for every penny! Shame on you Gert and Louis.More

We have been eating at Cafe BonBon for years and as always the venue and service remains superb. Unfortunately however, the food was far below par during our last visit. Starter: Fish Cakes - bones! Main: Sea bass on pea risotto. Undercooked, large peas on...overcooked risotto made for a sand-like mushy taste sensation which ruined the excellent sea bass. Even if properly cooked, pea risotto is simply not complementary to sea bass. The chilli jam that accompanied it was excellent however. Dessert: Grotesque and frankly embarrassingly large sized servings of cake. Lemon meringue excellent. Carrot cake not such but in fact a fruit cake with carrots - why it was on the menu in the first place escapes me. Limited menus can be great, but then it all needs to be excellent and make sense. This was a massive fail. Normally this would warrant a 1 star review but I am leaving 3 based upon past performance and the belief that this was a hiccup to be corrected.More

Suddenly we teleported to the opulence of French nobility. The peaceful well manicured groves and lemon orchards enhance the experience. Friendly staff and tasty breakfast was order of the day.. We will be back again and again.

EBike ride with breakfast en route. Wonderful weather and an amazing setting. Salmon and scrambled egg on croissant and an omelette were delicious and well priced. Good coffee. Hidden treasure.
