Was there over the last summer. What an experience.food was sent back twice, got the drink order wrong, and the waiter in training on a Friday night dropped the entire tray of food at the table right next t to us. Food was a disaster but we had a few good drinks

Poor waiter in training. What a humiliation to endure. And i cant imagine the fear they must have had that they might not get a job. Not to mention the impact their drop had on the entire timing of the kitchen and the customers still waiting on food or drinks. And the clean up must have sucked much needed resources... More

We were meeting some family local to the lake, they told us about the renovations and new menu at the Windless. What a pleasant surprise. It has always and still is about the location, Beautiful lake views! Lunch was good and service acceptable, but that glass of wine and salad tasted so much better in this upscale and modern atmosphere... More

We haven't been here since the late 80's. Heard they remodeled the place. Well I must say it is now beautiful. The food was fantastic. Friday and Saturday they have prime rib! OMG if you like prime rib, you have to try it. The serving size was hugh! Absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. Can't wait for the weather to warm... More

The Windlass has become the premier lakefront restaurant on Lake Hopatcong. The staff, food and management are second to none

This is a great place, great food & people. It classy and has beautiful water views of the lake (can also pull your boat right up to their docks) and has a resort feel to it. My favorite entree is the " Carne with Garlic Shrimp (grilled Skirt Steak and sauteed Garlic Shrimp)

Our first visit to the refurbished Windlass was a very pleasant experience. The entrance is warm & welcoming, and the hostess was friendly. It bears no resemblance to the old place, but it is very bright, clean, and comfortable. We were glad to see tablecloths & good sized tables. Ed from the Ridgewood was in the kitchen, so we were... Food at the Windlass has always been top notch! We usually go often in summer, as it's so nice to sit out on the deck and watch the lake, but we went recently on a dismal rainy evening and sat inside. The homemade pizza is excellent, and the atmosphere was nice and cozy inside, considering the day. The decor is... More

Went and had lunch with a group. We ate outside and it was very nice. Inside was not to our liking. It looked like a huge New York cafeteria. Not a warm atmosphere. Too cold and modern for me. Food was good. The outside is lovely on the lake and their swing benches are awesome.

Well, at least we hit 50% of our space that you liked. Clearly we are not trying to be cold, or modern...but a lot of people have reacted to such - so we are continuing to work on in. Coming soon (no joke) carpeting on the walls. More

We visited The Windlass for dinner after a cruise on Lake Hopatcong. We had a good time, and great food, but it was somewhat less fancy than I assumed from looking at the picture of the deck. The deck, as others have said in their reviews, was delightful, but cool for a mid October evening. (They do have heaters going,... More
