I have mixed feelings about the recent change. We loved the "old Fresco's", which was mostly Italian-influenced dishes. But now for 2017, Fresco's has changed -- it is being run by the (former?) Pier House staff -- I assume that means chef and assistants. We were originally told that they would retain most of the old Fresco's menu, and mix... More

This is really the former Pier House. The food is Greek influenced with an American twist. It is a BYO, although they do sell local wines. If you go, make a reservation.

Menu; greek. we had grilled octopus and for our main, porchetta. Sevice was excellent. It is in a remodeled old colonial next to the famous and zagat rated 410 Bank street. We were greeted very well, smiles, friendly, relaxed. Hey, it is the Jersey shore, no dressing up here. casual. BYO.

Living in North Jersey, and going to NYC often I think it's hard to get excited about this one.We have friends that love it, yet my wife and I can't agree. To say it's one of the nations top 1,000 Italian restaurants is a stretch.

Seafood Fra Diavolo Linguini delicious & Ricotta Cheese Cake delicious. Pasta dish was a perfect blend of spice, seafood and sauce. Dessert was light and melt in your mouth good. The dessert was still over priced at $12. for a piece.

Visited the restaurant last evening, we were a group of seven. They promptly seated us as we arrived in the upstairs dining area. We first order some deep fried olives and cheesy bread for the table. Both were enjoyed by all along with a few other of their appetizers. The entrees were delivered in a timely fashion and each of... More

Very interesting and tasty meal. And a lot of it. Lots of leftovers. The service was excellent. Compliments to the the chef, Ido, for your creativity.

Had dinner Sept. 9 at Frescos and without doubt it is one of the best meals I've had in years. Started with the fried olives, and their special garlic bread. Calamari appetizer, swordfish main course with bacon brussel sprouts. Each had a distinctively different taste. A true gastronomic mind blower! Called them the next day to tell Chef Ido how... More

I am surprised by all of the good reviews on TripAdvisor. Our whole party thought the meal was average and expensive. The appetizers were good, the entrees were mostly underwhelming. Not the worst, but not worthy of a return.

We enjoyed the Israeli Mediterranean dinner for two complete with appetizer, dinner and dessert. The selection gave a true feel of the Mediterranean from hummus and carrot salad to kabobs and babka. The halavah flavored gelato was delicious.

In the heart of the Historic District, Frescos occupies an 1880 Victorian cottage. On the candlelit veranda, or in the coolness of the Mediteranean inspired dining rooms, you imagine yourself at a small trattoria in Tuscany, or sampling the finest of local seafood at a Mediterranean cafe. From the seafood and homemade pastas of the South to the elegant sauces, meats, and veal of the North, Frescos is a culinary adventure tour of Italy. Frescos' award-winning young Chef Joseph Badger takes as his palette the incredible variety of fresh local seafood, and bountiful local produce, bringing a richness and creativity to the menu-- a dazzling display of shrimp, lobster, seafoods and pastas, and desserts that make guests exclaim with delight. One of ZAGAT'S "Top Italian Restaurants in America," and Voted "Best Italian Restaurant in Southern New Jersey 2012," by NJ Monthly.
