What a great spot. Eclectic decor, a bit noisy, friendly staff and an interesting menu. Having spent the night in Portsmouth with my two boys, we stopped here for breakfast on the way out of town. What a great find! Loved the choices on the menu. I got the "taco after party", which is scrambled eggs, salsa, guacamole etc on... More

As a local, I avoid all restaurants in town on weekends if at all possible. If you are considering The Friendly Toast on a Saturday or especially a Sunday morning plan to be there really early or wait in line. There is little place to form a line with a very small vestibule area. So in winter the line can... More

Breakfast for three was $85 including tip! We each had various Benedicts, one of us had juice, and one had a Bloody Mary. The food was very good, the atmosphere is eclectic and fun. The staff is friendly and it's a very comfortable restaurant...I would certainly rate it a 5 for the food alone if I had not been so... More

We had a good meal at this popular place, but when you compare it to the Towne Diner in Watertown Mass it has a fifties limited menu. Good place for young folks to eat bacon after a night of drinking. Nice waitresses and family friendly atmosphere, cosmopolitan travelers might prefer Radici or other spots.

This spot was so popular there was a bit of a wait. We had excellent service once we were seated, and the food was great. I had a fabulous omelette and my husband had a version of eggs Benedict that looked incredible - we will be back!

Such a fun quirky place for breakfast or lunch. Call ahead seating is helpful as they always have a wait. Great friendly service. The menu has so much to choose from it's hard to decide. The biscuits in gravy with sausage and eggs was so delicious! Proseco with muddled cucumber, pineapple and mint was outstanding. Great location just a short... More

Interesting atmosphere and the servers are all nice. I loved the variety on the menu, it makes you want to come back and try some more items. I had the huge sklarmaggedon omelette with home fries and homemade toast. Everything I tasted was good!

Had an excellent new year's eve breakfast at the Friendly Toast. There were so many creative options on the breakfast menu it was hard to choose. We were both very happy with our selections. Our waitstaff, Brooke, was very friendly and a huge advocate for the seacoast area and the food scene in Portsmouth. The restaurant had a folksy fun... More

We tried it. It's typical for old town. Over priced yet still just average. The wait was longer than our actual meal. I felt herded in and herded out like at a chain restaurant. The hollandaise is very tasty and I suggest asking for extra for the bland home fries. The savory crepes were great as well but they were... More

We stopped here on our way to Boston looking for a good breakfast in the middle of the day. The Friendly Toast is located in pretty downtown Portsmouth; My husband had the biscuits and gravy that came in a sizeable portion and he rated as excellent. I had the Friendly Toast Benny that comes with hollandaise sauce; not something that... More
