This is a great classic pub. We were here for New Years Eve got great service and had a great view of the fireworks! The beers on tap are very good, service was quick and attentive. My boyfriend grew up in the area and this was his favorite bar when he turned 21!

The Shepard pie is legitimate and there is a pool table and dart boards if you're looking to hang out and have a good time.

The food is really good.. it's affordable... the atmosphere is authentic.. the specials are good.. there are many things to do as fars darts, snooker, games... There are a lot of good drinks and the services is exactly what you would expect at a pub.

We had a few drinks and food on a Saturday night. We ordered nachos and nachos where the chips were replaced with French fries. These were excellent. The bartenders were difficult to find at times. We waited a while longer than normal for a new beer.

Looking for a hidden gem? Try the Coat of Arms in Portsmouth, NH. Fish and chips. Bangers and mash. A good burger. Pickled eggs...ok. Mabe not, but everything else on the menu is delicious. The beer is fresh and cold, the staff is helpful, and the parking lot is conveniently across the street (...but probably full). Easy to find. Worth... More

If you walk by as they throw some chicken tikka in the pan, you will trudge up the steps and eat at this local pub. The tikka drew us in, the great beer selection was a plus and the fish and chips was spot on! Nothing fancy, pool table, quiet and comfy.

The food and service were good. The choice of food and drinks were fab. If I had to complain about one small thing and that the chicken tikka masala was served in a stainless steel bowl with handles. The bowl was too big and too deep. I actually felt like I was eating out of a dog bowl. A civilized... More

We spent the day in Portsmouth for my Husband's birthday. Sail Portsmouth was awesome and one of the workers recommend this restaurant though we were already convinced to go elsewhere. The Hubby is a huge bangers and mash fan, we were told this is the best place in town. Unfortunately, the sausage was overcooked ruining the meal for us all... More

I took my husband (English) to the Coat of Arms Pub recently, and we had the best English style fish and chips since we lived in England! Typical pub, casual, relaxed atmosphere, TV on the soccer game with fans rooting for both teams that added to the ambience of the place. Lots of beers on offer too! Great waitress handling... More

I lived in England for six months back in the early 2000s, and this is one of very, very few pubs I've visited in the states that has the feel of a real British pub. From the menu items (which include curry, a British staple) to the dark carpeting to the general vibe of the place, it captures some of... More
