Had a lobster roll and a clam bits plate, everything was very good and fresh. Prices are ok and you have lots to eat.

Stopped by here after to work to take lobster rolls to my Mom's for dinner. I waited a long time for two lobster rolls, over 20 minutes. The lobster tasted off. I grew up on the seacoast and lobster rolls cannot be easier. You might like yours with butter or with mayo or both, but the concept is simple. This... More

Popular place, staffed by very cheerful 18 year olds, but be careful to arrive well ahead of closing time. "Sorry, closed! " these cheerful high school students told me, during a thunderstorm, after I had driven 25 miles in the rain from Exeter, and then ran 40 yards, for one of their famous lobster rolls. "But it isn't closing time,... More

Had a huge lobster roll which was great. They put a lot of meat on them, I could have made two rolls.

Been a few times since my last review....this palce seems to never fail...screaming hot food, some of the freshest fish around, light casual atmosphere, serve beer and wine as well. Not a lobster fan myself, but the fish is to die for!!! Hope they open a store in Rochester!

We stopped here three years ago and were so glad to see they were open during our recent visit. We both ordered the jumbo crab roll. They had a HUGE amount of crab in them. It made us wonder how big the more expensive crab roll is!? We don't have anything like this at home and it was so good.

This place is not cheap but well worth it! What I liked about the Beach Plum is they give you options on how the lobster roll is prepared. In my previous lobster roll experiences (and there have been many this year with two trips out east) I've only had the option of with or without mayo but Beach Plum also... More

The food is good, but when ordering the large seafood platter, we expected a bit more seafood. Not a little seafood on top of a mountain of french fries.

If all fast food was this good, I would be twice my size. We made two visits the first 3 days in Portsmouth and a third visit on our return from Bar Harbor. Start with the clam strips...then the shrimp...the close out your New England Trip with a Lobster Roll. Yum.

I had my first lobster roll in 1970 travelling in New England (from the midwest). We paid $1. I still remember how wonderful it was. I have tried a few midwest versions.....but they just don't measure up. This was well worth the 1500 mile drive. It was every bit as good as I remembered. Lots of large pieces of lobster,... More

The Beach Plum opened in 1992 at North Hampton state beach as a breakfast and lunch restaurant. The next year, a better location became available just down the street (at it's current location) and it became a take out food and ice cream stand. That original location continues to operate seasonally April - October each year. Based on strong growth in the business at that beach location, a second Beach Plum location was opened at 2800 Lafayette Road (Route 1) in Portsmouth on St Patrick's Day 2011. This Portsmouth location features an expanded menu that includes award winning fried seafood with both indoor and outside deck dining. The Portsmouth Beach Plum was featured on TV Diner in 2012 and Phantom Gourmet in 2011 which named it as a Great 8 restaurant for both it's famous lobster rolls AND fried clams. The Beach Plum is believed to be the only restaurant in New England to be so honored as 1 of the 8 best for BOTH seafood specialties. In December 2015, a new Beach Plum opened at the Brickyard Square Plaza, 24 Calef Highway (Route 125),Epping,NH. That location shares the same menu as this Portsmouth location.
