Tried for dinner but arrive too late (pre-season too), but had a happy lunch next day. Food is hot, fresh and served on time. I had oysters that we sublime. Then lobster & the usual. Add a could of brown ales. I would have stayed for another day, wide had other plans. We give it two thumbs up each.

Went for lunch and had the fried clam basket. The fried clams were some of the best I've had -- light batter, delicious. The homemade coleslaw was great -- not too sweet or runny, like some others I've had. I recently had the fried smelts, and they were superb. The portions are good-sized and the prices are reasonable for a... More

We were heading south from Maine and wanted to find a good lobster bisque for lunch. BG's was a couple of miles out of the way (not in the downtown area of Portsmouth at all). It is a typical New England fish restaurant in that it is a very casual atmosphere with seating either indoors, on a sheltered deck, or... More

Enjoyed a lobster sitting out looking at the water. Nice place, not fancy - more a locals hangout. Soups good and Rum Punch yummy. Owners are real nice.

BG's Boathouse is a no-frills lobster house. Steamed lobster, lobster rolls and steamers lead the menu choices and all are great. The restaurant is a bit off the beaten path, on the fringe of town, but worth the minimal effort to get there. Free parking is plentiful. Outdoor seating is available on the dock. My wife and I had steamed... More

It was my first visit to BG's, and I went at a pretty busy time near end of summer. It's bigger than it looks from the outside, but fills up fast during the season. We sat out on the porch under cover, and had a delicious meal. What I especially liked was their selection of "mini-meals" which are smaller sized.... More

Love going to BG's. Great spot for summer lunch or dinner. Chowder is excellent as well as other seafood choices.
