We understand they are closing, but they have set a standard for the whole area. They will be missed

It will be a sad day for the locals if the owners/chef retires shortly as is rumoured. In a two week holiday in New England, the Thompson House stands out as by far the best place we ate in. A very vibrant and warm atmosphere pervades the restaurant. The menu is interesting and inventive. Every angle is covered with a... More

We spent 10 days in New England and Canada this October and our meal at Thompson House Eatery was the best. Very interesting combinations of ingredients and flavors plus everything was quite fresh. We were there on a Friday night during leaf season and fortunately had reservations. The restaurant was completely booked. We were impressed as we witnessed the hostess... More

We always enjoy the dining at T.H.E. Whatever the season, whatever the occassion... we make sure to reserve at T.H.E. each time we visit Jackson. The specials are always a good choice, and dessert is a must.

We reserved a table for two on the saturday night. Service was excellent - friendly, helpful. We find american meals too big so opted to share all three courses which was a good decision. Food was delicious and nicely presented. And because of the sharing worked out not much more expensive than eating at somewhere far less enjoyable.

At the suggestion of our innkeeper, my husband and I had my birthday dinner here during our honeymoon to the White Mountains. I was certainly nervous about what the service was going to be like after reading reviews. However, I have to say, we had excellent service. We arrived about 10 minutes early for our reservation and were seated right... More

Had lunch here recently. Was not overly impressed. Got the open faced eggplant sandwich. Eggplant was cold and had a watery sauce on it that made it a soggy mess. Had dinner here before and thought it was just okay. Service was awful. Heard the waitress state a couple times that they weren't used to a busy Friday lunch crowd... More

We swung by T.H.E. while attending the Pumpkin Festival having eaten here in years past. When we arrived there was a group of six enjoying their afternoon (beverages were flowing), two other couples and a group of six at the bar. I should have reacted quicker when I noticed no food on the tables and the couples looking slightly annoyed.... More

This is the best restaurant in Jackson (and probably in the Washington Valley as a whole). Top notch food. Fully booked the first night, so we couldn't get in, but the following night they could accommodate us. If you are in the area, please go for dinner - you won't regret it.
