I have been to Umpleby's a number of times for coffee and lunch, as I work close by. The food and beverages are delicious; however, the front counter service needs to be greatly improved. The staff handle money at the register, but do not wear food service gloves when preparing coffee drinks - eeww! The service is extremely slow. Always.... More

OK for a quick bite. I ate there yesterday 12/27/15 and was disappointed. The café au lait was not made properly, and I have sampled better croissants there in the past. I think that I will stick to buying breads there and will have to lower my expectations - something that I do all the time in the Upper Valley.

In the past month I have stopped twice for croissants and have been greatly disappointed. The first time the almond croissants were so dry and I though day-olds. A few weeks later, a little less dry but overcooked and very disappointing. Hanover needs a real bakery - this place doesn't do it.

This is a good place for coffe and a sandwich for lunch. The food is really good and reasonably priced.

I loved this place. It's great for a quick bite and the people there were very friendly. We went there before checking out of our hotel. It was mid-morning, so my husband was interested in more a lunch and I wanted breakfast-y pastries. It's great and not too expensive, which is great too.

We visited Umpleby's to purchase sandwiches for our long car ride from New Hampshire to New Jersey. The bakery was recommended to us by our son who attends college in Hanover. The sandwiches were excellent. The portion size was generous. the bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The shop itself is very quaint. The baked... More

Delicious sandwiches served up by a friendly, attentive crew. We stopped in for a late lunch, and the food was great - fresh ingredients, prepared to order. Outdoor seating was delightful.

We went into Umpleby's for a late lunch and found it be quite crowded with students and locals. Its one of those sort of places that has a rhythm to ordering and as visitors, we weren't quite in synch. You stand in line, which might be right next to someone's table, order and pay at the counter, get a number,... More

This bakery/lunch spot offers counter service and provides first-rate sandwiches. While cutesy literary names for the sandwich selections may not be your thing, don't be put off. Each of the items we sampled was wholesome and generous. If pressed to name a favorite, I'd choose the Reuben (by whatever it's called), but the salad fare was also quite good. Be... More

This is a nice little coffee shop with outdoor seating. The prices were what you'd expect for a coffee shop and the service was fine, but the latte and chai tea latte were mediocre - something about the taste on both was just off. We were also told they have wifi, but we could not get internet access. That said,... More

Can you please add sandwiches and/or lunch spot to your type of cuisines. Bakery is so limiting and doesn't really describe many places that sell sandwiches on homemade bread and coffee and salads etc.
