Cheap eats but ohsogood! We had carne asada; the thinly sliced pork was perfectly prepared and flavorful. The chicken enchilada was wrapped in very tasty tortillas. The owners were hospitable and the experience was short of being a dinner guest in their own home!

Poor service, bland, below average tasting food, no ambiance, and really hard chairs. Pass by this restaurant and go to any number of other Mexican restaurants in Carson City who serve much better food and prove better service.

Ordered 2 carne asada burritos. The tortilla was stale and the meat had been chopped in little tiny pieces and tasted like the scrapings from the grill.

This restaurant has survived for years in a shopping center location while others have come and gone. Owned by a couple from S. Lake Tahoe who commute daily to run the restaurant, this restaurant is off Highway 395 in the Trader Joe's area. This is typical but very good Mexican food prepared lovingly by a Mexican owner chef and his... More

Visited for lunch while visiting lake tahoe. Was pleasant surprise to find the food really authentic to mexican roots without any cheese in it. We asked for spicy shrimp n it was hot n spicy. Loved it. Low key ambience with just great food.

When I want authentic Mexican tacos, this is the place! The tacos are delicious and they have the best refried beans in town.

Low key atmosphere is seat yourself. The speedy menu and ordering are a draw, but if you want another Margarita you might need to wave a flag to get there attention. I don't need the extra drink anyway with the great food and crisp chips and fresh salsa. Pork tamales and rice were tasty and amount of food was worth... More

I having been going to El Charro Avitia for over 25 years, but the wife and I decided we would try something different. My wife had the carne asada plate while I had a shrimp tostado and pastor and asada tacos. We also had a margaritas. Everything was very good and the service very good also. Margaritas were also tasty... More

This has to be the worst Mexican restaurant ever. I am from Texas and grew up on Mexican food, so maybe the reviewers who liked it just don't know the difference. The chairs are metal lawn chairs, the tables are dirty and decorated with 6 pack containers, and the food was awful. Do not go here!
