What a find! I had to stay outside Yellowstone, I didn't sleep here but loved the breakfast- sustainable food, great atmosphere, clearly a place with an environmental and social conscience- and hearty delicious food!

Superb menu is always featuring something special. Rainbow trout, great grass-fed steaks and woodsy and real ambiance make this little cafe a must stop in Silver Gate, Montana. You might see a bison, moose, elk, or fox cross the street too.

We ate two breakfasts and one dinner here. Our party really enjoyed the breakfasts--especially the pancakes and pumpkin loaf, which are specialties of the place. Prices aren't cheap, but portions are very large. Dinner was less impressive; my salmon was overcooked, and the steak was disappointing. Servers were friendly and aimed to please.

Great little place and their trout is excellent! Takes a little time to get your order in and food to the table if the place is crowded. If you are not in a hurry, it is a unique place to hang out. Wanted to get some coffee to go the next morning, but they have no "To go" cups. Wait,... More

Just stayed here for three days in September of 2016. The cabins have a communal shower and bathroom that stunk the whole time I was there and needed to be cleaned. I ate dinner one time at the cafe. That was one too many times. The food all tasted like they'd just dug it out the deep freezer, re-heated it... More

We really enjoyed eating here. We came in very hungry and left full and in a great mood. The food was great - after having stayed in Yellowstone and "eating" in Yellowstone for 3 days it was nice to have a good home cooked meal. We both went with the Cowboy Breakfast and both loved it. Hands down the best... More

This great little cafe hasn't changed a bit in its 75-year history. They may still be using the same coffeepot (just kidding, the coffee is great and plentiful). The staff is friendly and accommodating and the food is excellent - nothing fancy, just plentiful good home cookin'. I often claim that we travel to Montana from North Carolina just for... More

Stopped here for breakfast. The food was great, but the portions were enormous. The French toast had four huge slices of bread, more than 3 meals. My husband ordered ham and got two slices 1/2 inch thick in addition to eggs, toast, hash browns. This is a great place if you have a big appetite. Way too much food for... More

Wife and I ate there 3 years ago and we're very pleased, so was anxious to dine there again. This trip poor service...poor food...poor selection...very overpriced.

Our meals are homemade, right in our 1937 log cabin kitchen. We uphold a longstanding tradition; creating wholesome and delicious dishes from only the most pure and nourishing ingredients. Many of our ingredients come from right here in Montana, like our famous Beartooth Burger, made from beef raised in the shadow of the Beartooth plateau. Our ingredients recall home cooking of the past, when folks gathered to share authentic dishes from nearby sources. Like the meals we all might have tasted at grandmother’s table years ago, the Log Cabin serves a feast of fresh, hearty and delicious flavors!

For Yellowstone explorers seeking real recipes to fuel their passionate wilderness quests— weary of finding only overcooked, overpriced, brown glob, masquerading as a meal— the Log Cabin offers simple, nutrient-dense meals that surprise the senses. Your sources are sustainable and local rising to the hope of national parks to preserve nature for future generations. And our magical original log dining room soothes modern stressors. Unchanged since 1937— rooted deep like that dense pine forest sheltering us— the Log Cabin and its savory meals have been a timeless treasure for decades.
