It's really coming to the fact that I'd appreciate an 'old school burger joint experience' over most any chain. I had an refreshing time reading the menu on an interval not to be neglected by the must answer trivia. I felt after only 4 or so minutes that I'd feel comfy asking for a $100 buck loan as I would... We went to Matt's as kids, our family pulling up to the curb and eating in our car. Now, many years later, we go inside and eat at the counter, nearly always ordering cheeseburgers and an order of onion rings, both favorites. The burger is fresh pressed, not processed or made in advance, and the onion rings are piping hot,... More

After several trips to visit a friend in Anaconda, we finally made it here! We are initially nervous because there are not tables and chairs, only bar stools around the counter and we had a 1 yr old and 2.5 yr old with us. Luckily they have a seat that attaches to the counter for little man to sit in.... More

I ordered two cheeseburgers and large onion rings. The burgers were burned a crisp. So we're the onion rings. I hate it when the tall guy cooks my onion rings. But I have never had a burger this bad.

Nice people, great burgers and OMG...the cherry shake. The best! Love the nostalgia...the old cash register, sign, etc. wish I'd tried the nutburger. Next time...

Try their onion rings. Made from scratch, no frozen gross onion rings here. Delicious. Shakes are great, any flavor. Burgers are juicy with all the trimmings. Okay fries are very good too.

We had someone recommend that we eat at matts. They told us the pork chop sandwich was amazing so we decided to stop. We ordered a pork chop sandwich and a burger. Both of them were fabulous. It is a really cool nostalgic place to eat. If you want good food , at a good price in a nostalgic diner... More

A Butte institution! Matt's has been serving great burgers for decades in a small location that seats about 20 people at the counter around an old fashioned soda fountain. The menu is simple, mostly burgers, but they are the best. People stand inside and outside waiting for a seat. Fries are made fresh, sliced upon ordering, and the bugers come... More

Matt's place was recommended by a nice lady at the Butte Chamber of Commerce, and what a wonderful recommendation. The malt shakes are beyond delicious; the bacon cheeseburgers were better than homemade.

1St Drive-in in the state of Montana. Authentic 40's diner with its original fountain, counter and cast iron grill. Matt's is known for its 100% ground round hamburgers, homemade fries and ice cream. It has been family owned since 1943, and prides itself on the quality of its food. Very nostalgic, listed on the National Historic Registry.
