Have you ever eaten real German cooking? Have you ever eaten real German food in a horse barn? That is what you will find at Rosewitha's Schnitzelbank in Oronogo. Rosewitha learned much of her cooking skill from her grandmother and it is authentic. It is not cheap nor is it fast food. If you are planning a nice evening out... More

I found out about Roswitha's on Ozarks Alive F/B page. Taking my wife there for an evening meal was no disappointment. Reading the reviews ranging from one end of the spectrum to the other is a bit confusing. My wife and I had no issues or complaints with the staff, service, food, etc. Everything was terrific. Rinder Rouladen was outstanding.... More

I am German. Been eating at some of the best USA German restaurants since 1966 ... like Kuby's by SMU in Dallas, Sigi's in Tulsa & a host of places in the Texas Hill country (New Braunfels, etc). Now comes Roswitha's in the middle-of-nowhere, in a horse-barn in that well-known German Mecca of So Central Mo??? Well, it works for... More

We had a reservation for 6pm. By 7:50 we still had not been served dinner. A table of four came in after us without a reservation and were finishing dessert by that point. We asked for our check. The server made no attempt to apologize for the delay or explain it. She actually giggled. We never got our ticket. We... More

Roswitha and Jake were great hosts. We arrived just before closing on Friday with 3 kids and they welcomed us and showed the kids around. The Rouladen was tender and flavorful, went well with Warsteiner Dark

I have told my friends all year that I wanted to go to the restaurant for my birthday. When I called to make reservations for September 25 for the 7 of us, the owner told us she was getting ready for Oktoberfest the next day. She was hesitant about making a reservation, but then said if we came early that... More

Limited menu but everything is homemade and wonderful!! Our teenagers don't like German food, and there's no other menu options, so plan ahead if you are bringing children. (We leave our teens at home!) German potato salad is fantastic! Very limited seating, but are a couple of extended seating options in stalls in the barn. The entire restaurant is in... More

I lived in Germany for years and still travel there on holiday whenever I can. So I was thrilled when I found this place while taking a joy ride in the country outside of Joplin back in about 2004. It's been one of my favorite treats ever since. I love Roswitha, especially when she's just a little tipsy and comes... More

A couple of months ago I went for their Octoberfest and wasn't impressed. Now I came back for a traditional German dinner. Well.... it was good but not as good as in Germany. Of course I had the Jägerschnitzel and the sauce (which is what makes or breaks the meal) was nothing like in Germany. The red cabbage was delicious,... More
