I learned there is a real advantage to calling ahead to place your order. The seating area in general is dated and not super-comfortable, but if you place your order in advance, it's always ready when you arrive. The food is good with generous portions. The service is very real and homey.

When you want fried chicken in the suburbs don't hesitate to go to Porters! Crispy crust, juicy and priced right. I preferred the wings and drumsticks to the thighs and white meat. I didn't prefer the coleslaw but my husband loved it. I was dying for sweet potato pie and the crust on this was great but the texture was... More

Had a Bosses luncheon at our office today and someone brought in an entire box of assorted pieces of fried checked from Porter's. I had never eaten anything from Porter's and I had never even heard of the establishment. Needless to say, it is now on my "short list" of new places to try. The chicken is fried to a... More

only one way to some of the fine chicken they serve up at Porter's best damn check on this side of the Mississippi. Spicy wings are just right as well as the plan wings. I don't know what they do that the others don't but they do it right. They need more location around the country.

My family loves Porter's. They are one of the top 3 places in town for great Fried Chicken. Dining in is limited, nothing fancy and only a few tables for 4 or less. But get it to go for a family picnic or tailgating or back home for friends and family. That's the easy way to entertain and everyone will... More

Porter's has the best fried chicken in the Lou. Actually, the best I've ever had except for the chicken my great grandmother used to raise, pluck, and fry on her old Franklin stove back in Kernersville, NC. There are other things on their menu, but don't even bother with them. The regular chicken is wonderful, the hot chicken, even better,... More

Spent a weekend in St. Louis at museums, shopping, and strolling. Found this place when I googled "best fried chicken St. Louis" and it did not disappoint. Favorite part was finding out that they also have fried whiting or "jack salmon" and those were excellent as well. Fried livers and gizzards combo was a deal! Friendly service. We did carry... More

Chicken was OK. Cole slaw was pretty fresh & sweet. Mash potato doesn't have lots of flavor. The cheese cake desert taste more like thick pudding.
