Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited Avalon, had a coffee then tried hard to get her finding a book for all of us. If you want a book go around the corner to the well stocked, well informed QUIET Beachside Bookshop on Avalon Parade. We had a teenager, 2 older...65+ers and 2 in our 30s, the lovely lady there made wonderful recommendations and we are spending our time (after the beach anyway) at home cooking and reading these wonderful books from the best BOOKSHOP in Avalon. It is thing that the bookshop is now BEHIND the coffeeshop.More

Delightful cafe with a fantastic bookshop. Good coffee and a place for hours of browsing. The manager, Sally, is most helpful and knows all her regular customers and their book tastes. Good children’s section as well as adult fiction and non fiction sections. A place...to find new releases and less mainstream publications.More

This is a magical spot. Bookoccino is the perfect place to grab your morning coffee and do a bit of reading. While the coffee is very good, the focus is on the books, which are carefully curated by true bookworms (not surprisingly, the owner is...a fantastic author himself, who has penned several books and used to write for the NYT). If you're visiting, it's definitely worth checking out their events calendar, which is usually features visits from prominent authors.More

It’s a new era for this much loved Avalon bookstore. Now across the road at 66 Barrenjoey Road. I’m giving it the thumbs up for great coffee. I’m wishing for great local book launches, children’s holiday author visits, book sales and best sellers. I’d love...to see a circular book shelf in the terrazzo level. Plus a few more cafe tables.More

Lovely cafe with tables/benches and chairs amongst the bookshelves, which are laden with books that tend to me a little more obscure than the commercial best-sellers in the larger chains (although some of them are here too). The coffee was excellent, and brought to my...table by a very friendly server. How lovely to spend some time flicking through my new book while enjoying my coffee.More

This is pretty much an Avalon institution. Now it has new blood to continue the tradition of great books and great coffee. Highly recommended.

A great choice of books, ranging from latest novels, cooking, gardening, travel. A small cafe at the back of the shop and an area outside which is nice in the hot months.

We visited here for morning tea and coffee and to read weekend papers. Bought some books as well. Can have the tea/coffee in courtyard which was very peaceful. Repeated visit and never disappointed. Wonderfully friendly owner.

This is a real gem among independent bookshops. Always interesting stock with a cafe at the back which has international newspapers to read.

Bookoccino is a valued bookshop with Margaret and Roger knowing every book in their care and offering coffee and light meals whilst you read newspapers both locally and overseas in the small café out the back. The books have a wide range and the latest...novels can be found along with coffee table books, manuals and children's books and games. The shop has an enormous reputation.More

Not a particularly friendly staff, a bit pretentious. Many better places to eat in Avalon. The book store has some interesting titles but is crammed and hard to navigate without bumping into someone every two minutes.

I have been visiting Bookoccino for over 20 years and love the place. The combination of books and coffee still seems to work and having friendly and knowledgeable owners makes every visit a treat in an increasingly chain shop world. Don't miss it.

This is a great bookshop, not a lot of room as it has so many books. I would be surprised if they didn't have want you wanted. The little old man there is very cute and obviously enjoys doing what his doing. The cafe, I'm...not sure as I have not had coffee there yet.More

A little coffee corner at the back of one of the best bookshops in Sydney. They do small snacks also and provide newspapers to read.
