We had a busy morning at the pumpkin patch and were famished for lunch so we went to El Maguey. We had great food and great service. The salsa was good but the guacamole needed some work; very bland. I would return if in town.

Looked all over the plazas and didn't see it anywhere. Could it have changed names? Disappeared? Plenty of fake mex, but no El Maguey

We were extremely disappointed to find the original El Maguey location on the Business Loop had sold out and this was the only restaurant left with that name. This is definitely not worthy of the El Maguey name, at least not when you've had the other. The food here is heavily Americanized and shouldn't really be called Mexican food by... More

This place was awesome. We ate here twice in a weeks time: once we stopped while driving through, the second was when we stayed in Columbia. I had their fish tacos both times, and I highly recommend them. They are not breaded, which is great. The pineapple salsa is awesome. My husband had fajitas once and tacos another time, both... I ordered a lunch special of chicken taco, chicken enchilada, and rice. The food arrived quickly, but I received two beef items and fried beans. When I the server I'd gotten beef instead of chicken, she took the taco off my plate and brought back a chicken taco, but she left the other incorrect items. When I went to pay... More

Our order was not correct, as I ordered two burritos, one without lettuce or onion, and both came exactly the same...with lettuce and onion. Then,t o top it off, the burrito was basically full a Taco Bell quality ground meat that caused me and my husband both gastric episodes. Nothing serious, but unpleasant nonetheless. The food was also less than... More

Order the special items like Carne Asada steak or tacos, forget the American tacos and enchaladas they are the same every where. They make the real stuff if you look over their menu, their sea food items are great, and ask for the Verde sauce on the side it makes every thing the real thing, most will have Mexican waiters... We have never had a bad meal at El Maguey. They are an affordable restaurant, and we love their chips and salsa. Their shrimp soup is wonderful, you can get it with chicken too, if you don't like shrimp--yummy with cilantro, tomatoes, garlic and lime juice. That soup will knock cold/sinus problems out, too! Service is always fast and friendly.

I only went to El Maguey because we were craving mexican and we were already in this area and had limited time, typically, I go to a mexican restaurant across town. Choosing this restaurant was a huge mistake from the get go. The service was not pleasant by any stretch of the imagination and the food was not good at... More
