Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went to dinner here tonight and feel there has been a significant drop in the quality of the food and menu at this venue. To start, we ordered the mixed bread and dip platter. I was disappointed as we received a few grocerry store crackers...and some toasted slices of bread with average dips that again seemed to be taken from a coles package. This appeared like no effort was put in. Definitely expected something more for the cost. I ordered the steak and unfortunately it was very undercooked and therefore unpleasant. I will say the young lady that was working alone on the floor was friendly and helpful. The main thing this place has going for it, is the fantastic view. From viewing the other reviews, it seems like other people are noticing a negative change in the food being served at this venue.More

This place used to be our go-to when catching up with friends from the Coast and Sydney as it was halfway for everyone, food was good and so was the service. However since covid this place has done a slow slide into mediocrity. Expensive mediocrity....Last time I visited (around December) I chose the special which was soup and sourdough. Except they had run out of sourdough, so I got soup with a teeny bit of sourdough crust, more like a crouton really. When I asked for more bread, they told me they were sold out. No offer of a discount or alternative, or even a chip to use as bread for my soup. Today when I finally flagged someone down to order after being seated for 40mins, we were told, "all chicken" is sold out. Also, there are no specials, At all. Finally I opted for some sort of vegan salad that was $30, mostly made up of rocket. My partner had the caesar salad which was actually cheaper than mine, and at least had more than 3 ingredients. Looking around me, many people were leaving a large majority of their meals untouched. No one seemed impressed or pleased by the meagre offerings available on the menu. I don't think the menu has changed in 2 years, except we used to be able to get some sort of special. Now unless you want a seafood platter you are out of luck. I have been a member here for almost 15 years and I won't be renewing it. My recommendation is to eat at Wahroonga, or travel on to the coast. This place is not worth the price tag for crappy food and crappy service.More

For those of us from 'out of area' this is a true hidden gem. A great place to socialise with family and friends for a few hours over lunch or dinner. It's on a hill overlooking the Hawksbury River across rolling lawns, just down from...Brooklyn, just off the M1 or via boat to their jetty. The food is good, prices are reasonable, staff are friendly and helpful and the views from the deck make life so worth it. Give it a try!More

Great location, this is the only good thing, 4 different adult meals, 4 different kids meals were ordered, oil seems old, schnitzel dry, overcooked , squid ink prawn linguine stogy, small frozen prawns, bosciola oily and tasteless, the kids spaghetti had some weird watery broth...with floating mince, kids nuggets were again dark brown on outside and inside, honestly the worst meals we have ever hadMore

What happened here? The place used to be terrific, now it’s terrible! I’m gobsmacked. Brought some friends off the back of many LOVELY meals here over the years with a many visitors and family members - it was always reliable and the food fabulous, I...won’t be back. The menu is tiny and very restricted, the service is very average - more like work experience actually. The one waitress who seemed to be in charge was as helpful as she could be. I was looked at in the face and told by a child waitress that the chef had refused to do vegetables for my gluten free friend. Oh, and no GF bread either for her starter. My husband’s rump was sirloin. Oh, the salt and pepper squid came with chips, not the vermicelli as advertised. This wasn’t mentioned at the time of ordering. The red wine wasn’t available. The oysters were tasteless. Down the road are several oyster farms. Such a disappointment. Will call management tomorrow to complain.More

Really not nice . Frozen low quality seafood. Salad had so much oil . Doubt that there is a qualified chef . Kids meals looked over cooked and very small servings . I would highly recommend going somewhere else .

Well, it starts with standing waiting to be seated fir 5 minutes whilst the female bar staff looked at us, walks away to return that 5 minutes later and come over and seat us. The club was quiet and she certainly was not overworked and...I went to the effort of making a booking. Wow, this club has claimed the title for the worst garlic bread and luke warm chips and calamari. I’m embarrassed to say i actually have a membership here. There must be new cooks as they don’t deserve to be called chefs. I’m not sure why noodles are served with chips and calamari. The garlic bread was like a mini loaf of bread that was absolutely tasteless. Mooney Mooney, what the hell has happened here. The food is normally pretty good and the thing that pisses me off is I paid $68 to be served this rubbish. NEVER AGAIN I should put in a claim fir a refund on my membership!!More

Wanted to give the car a run on the freeway to clean the exhaust after much city driving. A run along the M1 from Sydney offered this . Joined the Club and found the location and food great. Many Baby Boomers for lunch go there...so best to book.More

7A 2C for 11.30 lunch, ordered midday. Waited over an hour for food, which was expensive, sparce, tasteless & hot food was cold. No wait staff, till 1.30 when staff told us we had to vacate table for next booking. We wanted to order dessert/coffee,...told we could have but not at that table. I exploded, relief manager couldnt make a decision to save herself. Never ever again Mooney and this has been an annual birthday lunch event.More

Hadn’t been for years and Mooney Mooney Club ideally located to break the trip to Newcastle. Whole place is clean with a coastal decor and beautiful river views from seemingly every table. Entree salt & pepper squid generous and he loved his daily specials seafood...marinara. Drinks and food all reasonably priced. Book in advance as it’s popular with all age ranges. Tables can be set up for groups of all sizes. Staff all seemed happy to be at work and customers all seemed happy to be there too.More

The ‘risotto’ was bitterly disappointing. This was not a risotto- it was dry rice with chunks of parboiled pumpkin. Avoid this dish.

Great view, outside tables, good service but I'm afraid it was club food at top restaurant prices. I had mashed pumpkin, some green beans and a piece of barramundi but nothing to write home about, no sauce of any kind, no excitement, just like a...midweek dinner at home when you can't really be bothered to make an effort.More

Definitely a cut above the average sports club. Was packed on Saturday lunch The menu is quite extensive and interesting without being over the top with an emphasis on seafood. Atmosphere is also very modern and pleasant
