This place is awesome !! we went for father’s day so the line was quite long but it was worth it - everything was outstanding, they had live music too
The Oyster Shed is a hidden gem. Even if you don’t like oysters they have an amazing array of other seafood ( prawns lobsters smoked salmon etc). It is a working oyster farm so the oysters are straight from their leases. You sit outside so...dress for the weather. Make sure you book as this place gets very busy. The seats are under shade cloth or awnings.More
We lucked upon this little gem while waiting for our friends to meet us for lunch. We were going to a rival restaurant but when I saw the location and food on display, we flagged down our friends and opted for The Oyster Shed. We...ordered a bowl of prawns with seafood dressing, a salad and two rolls with which to make our prawn rolls. It was delicious. All the staff were super friendly and very patient with us as we ordered our food. The staff all seemed passionate about what they were doing as did Deb, the owner. As we went on a Thursday, it wasn’t very busy so we were able to enjoy the relaxed vibe. The weather was perfect which also added to the ambiance. The location is perfect if you live in on The North Shore of Sydney and want to meet friends from the Central Coast. It is about half way. We will definitely be returning.More
Lots of good comments about this one. Therefore, we paid a visit on the way from Sydney to Newcastle. Unfortunately, it was raining but there were still lots of customers. The foods were up to standard as usual seafood restaurant in Australia. However, if next...time I am not passing through on my way, I will not go there again.More
Being 1 minute off the M1 at the Mooney Mooney exit, it's conveniently located for a light lunch or just to pick up the freshest possible. locally grown, Hawkesbury River oysters. That's what I did. Picked up our seafood supplies for our weekend away on...the Central Coast from the Oyster Shed on the way passed. Yum! What a great decision!More
I called in to collect an order on Christmas Eve. The staff were delightful. One lady Carrie was very helpful and informative about local knowledge and produce. The view here is beautiful, and I would highly recommend making a booking to go and sample the...fresh seafood, I came away with not only seafood but a range of cheese, oils and other goodies too. Well done to the staff for being so accommodating and helpful on Christmas Eve. We look forward to being able to visit in the New YearMore
At first glance the location and the place are great, however the kings prawns where horrible. They had no flavour, they seemed to be soaked in melted water. At the $40 per kg they certainly aren’t worth it. The oysters where tasty but expensive.
Told by my car mechanic to "go for a longer drive to top up your battery", a visit to the Oyster Shed seemed the answer. Less than an hour from the harbour bridge, it truly is a gem! The oysters were freshly chucked and served...with a wide variety of "dressings". I chose Italien which was fabulous, followed by a half kg of succulent prawns. My wife was very impressed by the chowder soup which was full of fish and shellfish. A table by the river with awesome water views and friendly service meansthat we'll be back soon!More
Imagine sitting by the glorious Hawkesbury River on a warm sunny afternoon. There is a cold glass of Chardonnay in your hand a plate of delicious local oysters and prawns to devour. What's not to love. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, Carrie, our...server, was great. Bright, bubbly and full of all the local knowledge, the food is fantastic and we had a wonderful afternoon. We will definitely be coming back. 10 out of 10!!More
We called in to grab a bite to eat, what a top spot! Lovely to be able to sit outside by the river and watch the ever changing scenery. So many smiling faces, the staff were super friendly, very welcoming and informative of places to...visit in the local area. Food was amazing! We loved the outdoor rustic feel. We will be sure to promote this fabulous spot and we will be sure to return very soon. Thanks team, keep up the good work.More
Encouraged by a review in Hunter Hunter we stopped for lunch on the way home from a Sydney trip. A well organised queue system allowed one of us to sign in and line up while the other grabbed a table in the attractive riverside area....It's not cheap and not fast (but staff did tell me they have another grill on the way to speed things up) but the oysters were lovely and fresh. Even the bread was delicious with a delightful cruch on the crust. We will definately stop here again so we can try more of the interesting variety of toppings both grilled and cold.More
We were excited to travel up to this place an was greeted by a lovely simple set up and beautiful views. The place served their local oysters and smoked fish on premises. The smoker was giving off a lot of smoke when we were there...but other than that, it was a lovely place to enjoy and relax. The smoked fish was delicious but a bit pricey at $25 with a little bit of salad. The oysters were fresh and their cheeses recommended. My family was very happy with the place and I will visit again with other friends. A good local place to support indeed!More
Booked table for 5 people overlooking the Hawkesbury River on a stunning day. This is just such an amazing unpretentious place for lunch if you love seafood, being close to the river with great friendly service, competitive prices, freshest produce and byog. We started with...oysters, tiger prawns, smoked trout with salad and the best smoked oysters just out of the smoker. This was our first visit and definitely there’ll be many more. Big thanks to Peter, Deb and all the friendly team.More
Great friendly staff a nice rustic setup and good honest food. BYO wine and glasses. The oysters were great, the salmon is smoked on site as is the mullet and are both very good although a little on the expensive side at $25 with a...basic but good salad. Great location on the Hawksbury River waterfront. Highly recommend.More
