Always get a warm welcome and the food is good and wholesome. It makes a great stop either during a walk or better still at the end. It is popular which speaks volumes as there are no houses nearby. You are guaranteed friendly bar staff and a good range of beers.

We arrived after 1.30 on a very busy Saturday lunchtime. The service was very efficient and my husband ordered winter stew and I had a mixed meat salad. Both meals were of large portions and extremely welcome. They were very tasty and would recommend this Inn of anyone.

A half way stop on a days hike from Curbur Gap, along White Edge and back via Frogget Edge. We were made welcome despite muddy boots. A good selection of ales - I had Hobgoblin Gold. The five of us all had meals. I had the steak pie, which was excellent. You can order the pie as a small portion... More

Had a really good walk along Curbar Edge and decided to eat at The Grouse having visited previously for a mid walk pint. The decor of the pub is eclectic to say the least but the food and service are both excellent and good value for money. Would recommend if your a fan of pies!

Whilst walking in the Peak District my friend and I saw a pub symbol on our OS map and decided to try this place for lunch. Good that they do food 12-9 on a Saturday. We received a very warm welcome from both bar staff on arrival, before ordering drinks and food and choosing our table. I had the brie,... More

My brother and I were traveling from the Peak District National Park to Robin Hood's bay. We were wandering and found Froggatt was the next town. We stopped at the Grouse Inn for lunch. The whole place was intimate and charming. It had a very local feel, with old friends meeting to catch up and enjoy an ale. Old horse... More

Called in for lunch after a walk on White and Froggatt Edge. Great food and great beer. Lived in Sheffield for 28 years and have been missing out this long. Won't be long before we are back.

Decided to experience a real country.pub in striking distance of Sheffield which had a long standing reputation for giving good value for money. We were not disappointed. The food menu and specials board provided ample variation of pub food. The food arrived within 15/20 minutes of ordering and our four meals were served at the same time. We were hungry and... More

This is by far and away my favourite pub I have ever visited. Location? Amazing. The views are great, there is lovely outdoor seating, and there are great walks from the door (on Curbar/Froggatt Edges, White Edge, Longshaw estate etc). Head up the road a few hundred yards and take the first footpath on your left towards and through the... More
