Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Old and new, both feature here. Traditional foods, such as pies, quiche, lasagna (meat and vegetable varieties), toasted sandwiches, and baked beans are offered along with bagels and all manner of teas and coffees. Many of the customers are older folk and they find their favourite comfort foods here. The quality and value are apparent. The decor is relaxing and brings back memories as well. Good vegetarian options are available and I had a toasted sandwich on pumpkin bread with my coffee. The long black coffee came with a side container of hot water for me to dilute to my preferred concentration.

We visit here regularly, sometimes more than once a week.
The coffee is always good, and nice and hot.
The staff are friendly, efficient and helpful.
The food is always quickly made and tasty, and good quality - the prices are good value too.
Highly recommended.

Modern, new, futuristic, state of the art - that is not what you’ll find here. Instead, you’ll uncover a charming local eatery with wholesome food, earthy environment and an all round cool place to be. Some would call it eccentric. I call it “homely”.
I reviewed this place 4 years ago rating it with 4 stars but a revisit on Sunday, I was totally charmed - again.
Owner Anthony and one of his staff Kalon are the perfect hosts and have created a vibe of laid-back, local, funky with a touch of boho casualness.
The tables don’t match.
The chairs don’t match.
The art is fun and quirky.
The staff are cheerful and it was nice to chat to them about the evolution of #thewerestreetfoodstore
The layout is inviting and drawing you in to enjoy a cuppa, cake or a meal.
The menu is extensive and plenty of choices. Dietaries catered for and please advise if you have anything particularly you wish to avoid as the staff are very accommodating.
I just loved the coffee ticket ordering system on the wall, so regulars can preorder their beverage saving time and making it efficient for everyone. (See photo)
What did we order?
1: pancakes with berries and ice cream and a karma sutra chai
2: eggs Benedict with bacon and an iced latte
3: meat pie with salad
4: open BLT and a chocolate milkshake
5: Central Park bagel and a lemonade
6: another round of pancakes with berries minus the ice cream and a latte
Food was very tasty, well presented and generous portion sizes.
Total price $117! Oh that’s good value.
It buoyed me to see people coming in ordering, all on a first name basis. This is not just a cafe - it’s a community. It’s a safe place to come and fist over a coffee for an hour or chat with others.
The local council are making a park next door so while still under construction we sat outside with our dog and soaked up the mild summer weather.
Anthony spoke of the changes coming as council finishes the street works and I look forward to hanging out here again.
Notes: disability access isn’t good but once the streetscape is improved so will accessibility. Toilet available. Kid friendly including a high chair available.
Dogs are welcome and even encouraged so bring your fur babies.
Thank you for a great lunch Were Street Food Store.

Small inside but so friendly - a neighbourhood gem! A little seating outside also offers being apart of the great community that is Monty.

Was working in the area for a couple of weeks and happened across this little cup of brilliance. After visiting twice my coffee was remembered and cup being written on and placed in line before I entered the door ✅
Plenty to browse at once inside and though the food looked good I didn’t get the chance to sit and eat. It’s in my favourites list 👌

I took a visiting interstate friend to the Were Street cafe because we wanted to have a catch up chat - it tends to be much quieter than the cafe down the hill. The coffee was well made and the quaint decor inside & out is pleasant. The pre made light snacks we had were tasty (vegetable focaccia, ham & cheese croissant) and the food options on the board were many & varied.

Called in for a very early breakfast this week. Had the fresh fruit, yogurt and muesli dish. It was well presented, but pretty underwhelming overall. Coffee was nice and service pleasant enough. Outdoor seating always nice. Just watch out cause some of the tables are uneven, but that adds to the cafe character.

Waiting for an appointment, I stumbled across this quaint cafe in Montmorency.
Decor is retro, young people on the front counter were troubled with hand writing orders amongst themselves. It wasn't a busy morning, I was able to find a table next to the door which couldn't fit my car keys, water bottle and glass and scrambled eggs.
If you are a hipster you may enjoy this, I once was but no longer.
Ambience didn't thrill me, the shop area tiny and the mothers with their four-wheel drive prams plentiful.
No thanks, I need my space.

Sunshine, great coffee, great service and fabulous food.
My "go to" with friends. Never disappoints!
Although it is on the cosy side this just adds to its charm. The atmosphere is perfect for that weekend brunch, lunch or coffee and cake.

We lunched at the Milk Bar choosing from the all day breakfast. The food was very good, as was the coffee. It would have been noisy inside, but pleasant sitting under an umbrella in the sun. One orders at the register, and food is delivered with a smile.

Another local favourite of mine. Coffee and food is fabulous. You must try the baked beans, so tasty and just a hint of spice. Eggs always poached well. Even with our noisy baby (sorry!) we always feel welcomed and we'll looked after.

I was born in Montmorency, raised in this leafy - tree suburb, and watched it grow and transform from kind of dull to very very quaint and lovely. It's now quite trendy. I love the little Cafe, because it is quite appropriate and very fresh. It's Monty to me so its all part of the experience when I travel back home.
