Myself and my wife visited today for lunch, based mainly on reviews. Our order was placed at 11:30, (start of lunch period), and served at 12:10 which seemed a long wait for two salads. I ordered Caesar salad and my wife Garlic butter prawn salad....The portions were inordinately small looking more like side dishes to a main than the mains themselves. My Caesar’s lettuce was limp, the egg hard boiled and green between the yolk and albumen – most people know how to avoid even this. Summary, small, limp, unappealing to the eye and overall disappointing for such basic fare. My wife’s salad had 5 prawns. These were around 20mm, were the frozen variety, looked reheated in the garlic butter and “rubbery” in texture. Terrible to use frozen produce considering the locale. The quantity of the prawns mattered not, the quality and size did. Summary, disastrous attempt at this dish. We did raise our concerns to a staff member who asked if they could offer something else, however, if basic salads were beyond the kitchen and their quality and appearance initially ignored prior to serving we decided best option was to put this down to a really bad experience and left. Perhaps wrong to speculate, maybe the food was from the previous day We did notice the pasta and pizza dishes looked OK at other tables and could understand why these were perhaps the popular choices of the patrons. Friends on our return asked how lunch was, and we explained our disappointment. Word of mouth can do much however I felt a review to perhaps warn others to avoid salads appropriate.More

Overrated, expensive, zero service and extremely hot. This restaurant was recommended to us, but we are very disappointed and would never recommend it to anyone or return. Firstly we have to line up at the counter to make an order, this process takes 10 to...15 minutes. If you decide you want to order an additional item during your visit, such as another coffee or a dessert, you must line up again. Secondly the pricing is a problem, and the accuracy of the order taking. I ordered a breakfast pizza and asked to have mushrooms and anchovies added to it. I did not receive an itemised receipt, however the breakfast for two come close to $80. After paying, the woman at the counter told me the mushrooms were $6, which is outrageous for a pizza add on. I said I would not have ordered it if I knew how much it was. But I was not offered a chance to change my mind or get a refund. To make matters worse the anchovies were added to the pizza, but the mushrooms were sent out on a separate plate. To find a waitress to report that the mushrooms were meant to be on the pizza was impossible, as there was only one girl on the floor running out all the food and drinks. To line up in the queue to let them know would take another 10 to 15 minutes, which would mean my meal would get cold. My partner was also disappointed in his Godfather breakfast costing $32. He was served this breakfast on a chopping board. His egg yokes had no were to run to except down the sides of the wood. His sausages were tiny, and his bacon also a small serve. Definitely not worth the money we paid. At no point during our meal were we asked if our meals were okay. The decor is beautiful, however it is extremely uncomfortable because of the heat. There was a ceiling fan on one side of the al fresco area, which was not even on. All the plastic awnings were down, and there was little to no breeze. To get a bottle of water meant lining up again. It was sweltering and we were both suffering because there was no breeze or water provided. I eventually got a bottle of water, but I had to ask for it, there was no water station for customers to help themselves. We don’t mind paying high prices, but in return we expect value for money and good service. Neither of these reasonable expectations were met. To top it all off, the toilets were outside and were filthy and stunk of urine. If I am paying through the nose for a meal a a posh restaurant, I expect to be able to use a clean toilet, not some public urinal. The coffee was nice, and the menu extensive and unique, however the overall experience was horrible and we felt ripped off. Sorry guys, but you really need to improve your service and value for money, if you want to charge top dollar. You also need to provide some much needed comfort to your customers such as fans and clean amenities. Hopefully you will use this constructive criticism and use it to help improve your business.More

Love Basil and Vine! It’s very busy usually but well organised and excellent service, the staff are helpful and friendly and we absolutely love the decor. Plenty of seating too. We mainly go for morning tea, the snacks are lovely. Meals are good too I’ve...heard.More

Nestled within Burpengary Plaza is an Italian Cafe. They have a delicious and substantive menu. The food is presented beautifully and is full of flavour. They also serve gluten free to the standard needed for a diagnosed Coelieac. There coffer is delicious. It is very...popular. You cannot book a table and need to line up to get a table. We'll worth a short drive to meet friends or family over brunch or lunch.More

Went as a family of seven all meals delivered to table except for one, we ask where it was and the waitress said it would be with us shortly. The meal never turned up and nobody came to the table to see if we required...anything else as we were leaving I went to the counter and ask for a refund and some sort of compensation in the form of a gift voucher or something similar the young lady on the counter said she would have to ask the maître d’ who pulled a face and the offer was a refund for only the meal that was not delivered and a free coffee which I refused. I would not recommend this place as our $200 dollar breakfast was ruined by this type of service.More

Food is beyond amazing. So fresh and yummy. Restaurant is beautifully set out. You must book because this place gets busy. And service is a little slow, we had to ask for order to be taken after waiting 20mins. But would go again:

The menu is extensive and all the meals our group had were very well presented, all our party enjoyed what they ordered, everything tasted was very authentic. Best Italian we have had for a long time. We had starters, mains and then some had desserts....Food was excellent and the atmosphere and staff were amazing. Thank you for a great night, Basil and Vine. We will definitely be back, the only very minor negative, was the time frame given for the sittings, 2 hours is OK, but good food takes time to prepare. Still very worth it.More

The best food regardless of what you order. I have tried a few meals on the menu over the years altho disappointingly there is no risotto on menu. I usually gauge an Italian cuisine chef by their risotto. Seating tables are narrow altho acceptably comfortable...on the bench seating. It has atmosphere and with much to see within its walls, altho there is indoor and laneway seating. I have never sat in the laneway. This eatery has got extremely busy for all dining hours and it’s quite noisy. Book well in advance. Not quite the ideal romantic place it may of been back in the day, ironically due to its popularity. Cushions and rugs are available with a closed-in fire for the winter months. I prefer the Winter months to visit Basil and Vine.More

We went there for lunch during a weekday and were surprised how busy the place was. We sat inside as it was too windy outside. Although it was just midday and early for lunch it looked like people were there much earlier eating lunch. We...perused the menu and made our way to the counter to order, joining a queue. When we placed the order the young girl said she had to check if they had it. No they had run out of salmon. So we had to look at the menu again for an alternative dish. We both ordered the prawn barramundi pasta, and rocket salad as a side. The pasta was ok, but disappointingly had minimum seafood. A few prawns, small pieces of fish, lots of linguine and sauce. The salad was satisfactory. My friend had been there before and said she was disappointed, it wasn't as good as on previous occasions. They were busy. It seems like a very popular place to eat and meet nonetheless. Carparking is at the shopping centre.More

Although this Italian café is part of a shopping centre, once you’re inside it doesn’t feel so much like it. The surroundings are quite pleasant and the service was friendly, though a little slow to start. Our group of three shared 2 pizzas and a...salad for lunch and the quality of the food was nice. How authentically Italian it might be, I couldn’t say ;-). The first salad we chose wasn’t available as they’d run out of rocket, which was a shame. Reasonable enough prices and I’d probably pop back in if I was shopping nearby, to try some of the other menu items.More

We had a family celebration at Basil & Vine this month and the experience was superb. They were able to cater to multiple allergies, a toddler and my sister in law who speaks minimal English. The service was kind, personable and considerate. The waiters/waitresses were...careful to not place hot food and glasswear near the toddler. The food was placed in takeaway containers to go swiftly and we did not have to wait for a dessert menu. As for the food the drinks, entrees, mains and dessert was all of a very high calibre. Easily the tastiest Italian within an hour drive in any direction. My mother who can be rather picky with food was even impressed. Thank you for an exquisite dining experience. Also, if you are a fan of plant based milk this business does a delightful macadamia latte.More
