Love the satchmo bagel, however, it was better with the older dill style pickles - it added more flavour.

One of my favourite cafes ever, I go out of my way to come here when in Perth. Amazing bagels, great coffee, and incredible babka (the other desserts look good too but I just can’t pass on the babka). Fantastic music and a nice mix...of customers as well as very friendly staff. 1000% recommendMore
Went along to Satchmo to meet up with our daughters who live and study nearby. Caught up with the boys in the band. Then had the best bloody Louisiana Gumbo ever, including several in New Orleans many moons ago. Cheese Burgers went down with much...ooing and aahing as did the boys' bagels. Great people from kitchen to floor and a welcoming and happy vibe. Bravo and thank you to one and all.More
We wanted to take some well travelled visitors out for brunch and my 21 yr old foodie son suggested Satchmo. Great choice, we booked as we had seven people, this I would recommend as it is not very big. Our table was reserved and waiting...for us on a busy Saturday morning and it was busy, very busy so it was fantastic we had booked as there were quite a few waiting for a table. Staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. Menus on the table and a board, order at the counter and then enjoy. The hardest part was deciding what to eat, the menu has good choices. We had a range of different items and the consensus was that it was all delicious, the bagels were particularly good, fresh, slightly chewy. The Satchmo Bagel looked really yummy and apparently was! Another favourite was the Challah French Toast. All in all, great choice for brunch, not fancy but wonderful food, great vibe and the coffee was pretty good too. We will definitely have more visits.More
I have tried a lot of bagels in Perth and as far as a plain toasted bagel with cream cheese goes, this place does the best. Toastie warm but not flat or hard. Generous with the cream cheese, served on the side so you can...apply as liberally as you choose.More
I have been drooling over Instagram for months and finally made the pilgrimage from way South of Perth to take my husband out for his bday. We had a great Brunch - fried chicken bagel (shared with my daughter)and Gumbo washed down with a Bloody...Mary and a Gin and Apple juice . A vanilla milkshake for our daughter was super tasty - well done something I struggle ordering out for the kids as most places make it too warm and too weak but this was delicious. The fried chicken bagels was moist and cooked to perfection along with the slaw and chipotle sauce it made the bagel Devine ( I am not a fan of Swiss cheese but hardly tasted it so - win). Next time I have it I will ask for no Swiss Gumbo was lovely hubby enjoyed this dish and loved the corn bread . We had cinnamon Babka take away as we gave someone else our table .. babka was good next time I will enjoy in-house and maybe slightly warmed . Staff were lovely attentive and efficient We will be back when we are up in the big smoke againMore
The first time Satchmo’s opened we ordered their bagels on a regular basis as I lived just around the corner and loved them. The bagels were always fresh and delicious. It had been sometime since I’d stopped by as I had moved away. Recently I...was in the area with my partner so we decided to stop for breakfast. We ordered, Iced coffee Chai Tea Smoked Salmon bagel Pancakes - I can’t remember the full name The iced coffee was bitter and served in a tiny glass that looked barely enough to quench the smallest persons thirst. It didn’t matter in the end due to how bitter it was, I couldn’t finish the sip I had. The chai tea was standard, nothing special Smoked salmon bagel tasted like it had been sitting there for at least its second day. The dough was soaked inside like that of a lunchtime sandwich made with tomato..... gross. The salmon was drying around the edges as if it had been left out too long. The pancakes were also a tiny serve, the banana was cooked with its skin on which I suppose is for the edgy hipster look 🙄 but was just inconvenient. The bill came to over $40, we felt robbed, hungry and thirsty. I cannot for the life of me understand how or why this place is so busy.. as I said in the title you’re paying to look like a hipster at a cool little cafe with awful food/drink/service. 🤦🏻♀️hipsters.... hipsters everywhereMore
Have been to Satchmo half a dozen or so times now and the food, staff and atmosphere have always been amazing I should try more of the menu But I can’t go past the fried chicken bagel and always take home a peanut butter brownie...Yum !More
Love this place! Awesome coffee and the meals are divine. I took a friend here, who was visiting from the UK. As she is a strict vegetarian I knew she'd love it! She ordered my special which is.....an open bagel with hummus, chilli jam, halloumi,...eggs and a sprinkling of roasted pumpkin seeds. My friend said "this is vegetarian heaven". My partner has either the "satchmo" which is a cornbeef mix on bagel, or the "mississipi" which is crumbed chicken mix on bagel. So whether your a vegetarian or a meat head this place is awesome!More
We ordered the chicken soup, sweet potato knish, smoked salmon bagel and flat whites. While the sweet potato knish was really good all the other items were very mediocre. Coffee was burnt, salmon bagel wasn't toasted and had only a small piece of actual salmon....The chicken soup was pretty good but should've came with toasted bagel, unfortunately someone just chucked an uncut fresh bagel next to it. Very weird. I'm sure this place has it in them to serve some good food but it appears the staff just didn't give a shot today.More
