On a public holiday it is hard to find somewhere to catch a coffee and friend chat but we stimbled over the Laundry and although we had to sit on bar stools first( AND WE ARE ALL SENIORS) we eventually moved to a table and...enjoyed a nice brunch We chose Simple food but it was tasty and coffee was good too - and the best part they were open when dozens of others weren't !!!!More

The process of booking for a large group was very easy and there was no stress when our numbers changed. The setting was relaxed and comfortable and the noise level perfect. We were able to order a la carte and the food was very good...and served well given that we had a large number of different dishes The drinks list was very reasonable and glasses were changed when we moved from white to red wineMore

We had a family catch up - none had been to this restaurant previously, it was selected as it was just about the only place open on a Monday night. Service staff were excellent and friendly - waters and drinks served promptly. Meal orders taken...and staff had good understanding of the food on offer when asked questions. Meals were very nice, on the whole a lovely eveningMore

This is our favourite place to eat! We have been here several times for lunch and dinner, and each time we have found a new and different delicious thing to try on the menu. We tend to go tapas-style and get lots of dishes to...share. There's something for everyone..but do not leave without trying the Korean chicken!! This place delivers both on food and service- SUCH friendly and happy staff who are always happy to advise and recommend dishes, wines, check allergies etc.) Lovely relaxed atmosphere in a tasteful, comfortable setting. Oh, and amazing cocktails and wine menu to boot..We are addicted to the place!More

Havent had a dinner here in a while, but the coffee window was a staple on the dog walks during Covid and I always thoroughly enjoy the breakfasts or casual solo lunches. Always something of interest with a twist on the menu.

Came on a Friday for dinner. The food was delicious. Went for a few share plates and a larger, pasta dish. The cauliflower is amazing and the Korean chicken is very good. The home made pasta was cooked very well.

My first review for 2021! So booked through their website, got a bit confused so rang them to check that they had received my booking, person on phone was friendly. Parking can be found all around the place, so enjoyed the 5 minute walk. Be...advised it is a busy area both with traffic and pedestrians. As you walk past, it is easy to miss the front door set into the very small front courtyard/dining area. But once inside, you see the bar on the right and the dining area leading to bi-fold doors opening out onto the rear alfresco area. This has a long seat against the brick wall on one side and the other has high tables and a tall shady tree in the center, with a train engine taking up the rear of the space. With the clientele mostly young female groups, some couples, the absence of soft surfaces may make it hard to converse with the background music playing (all drums and guitar licks). Maybe if I had taken my cue from the way I was ignored when I walked in, both guys behind the bar were vying for the attention of the young lady sitting at the table with a laptop. I just brushed it aside and reminded myself that I was looking forward to eating here. I was shown to a table sitting just inside the bi-fold doors, central to all the people watching. The menu looked good so I started with the Tomato Capaccio and the Kingfish Crudo. Service, although friendly was not knowledgeable (having to check with kitchen a few times), and sporadic. The longer I was there, the longer I had to wait for my food. More of that later. When the carpaccio came out, it was pretty on the plate but no taste or evidence of the balsamic, unsure if tomatoes were oxhearts (texture was more like salad tomatoes), with the dill garnished cheese giving a refreshing taste to the dish. The seasoning however was unbalanced, with the salt overloading the dish together with the olives and no pepper to counterbalance it. The dressing tasted of oil and nothing else. The Kingfish crudo came out and was much improved on the flavour, being a stronger tasting dish with the balance of sweet (grapefruit, citrus) and sour (lemon). The fish provided a silky texture against the crunch of the pistachios. Although, after having so much salt on the previous dish, the caperberries were not as welcome (much as I do like them any other time). The saving grace of this dish was the gin and lemon dressing, being stronger in flavour, and giving more balance. Wanting to order the Chicken and the Gnocci, I tried to alert my server but was apparently invisible to any staff. During this time, I noticed several things as lone diners do. Like the chef who came out several times for a pen, then cutlery, then more cutlery. I watched as the server was moving and cleaning tables with the same cloth that he had dropped on the floor previously. This alarmed me so checked the cleanliness of my table - I found it to be sticky. Although the server had walked several times quite close to my table, carrying only 1 item in 1 hand resulting in a few times crossing the floor, there was no one surveying the room, which left other diners waiting for their water, cutler, etc. Eventually sensing that I wanted something, when he approached, I didn't order any of the dishes but wanting to give them another chance, ordered the Parfait. The server did not inform me of the changes to the item which differed from the menu. The fruit described as oranges came to my table as nectarines. He didn't say anything about the changes until I asked when I paid for the meal. So I was disappointed, given the today's seriousness towards allergies. As disappointing as I found the dish, I was more dismayed at the lack of awareness (both of the kitchen and front of house), training and the low standard of efficiency. I still found elements that I enjoyed and believe that it shows promise of being better. This is why I give it an average rating. I am hoping that in these Covid times, should I revisit the The Old Laundry, that any rating I give will be improved.More
