We came across this restaurant and always wanted to go back to try. We finally did tonight, and what a treat! The ambience is beautiful, the service was kind and attentive and the food was truly remarkable. The culinary staff paid great attention to detail, the meat were beautiful cuts, lean, tender and succulent with flavour! Their exotic spices created beautiful authentic dishes. Ingredients fresh and portion sizes generous. From the Naan to the fluffy fresh rice, you could tell everything was made with love.
And no wonder! The head chef Hayat, has been there since the beginning, 30 years this year! Usually this restaurant is very busy, but tonight he was able to come out and make conversation.
It was the best Lamb Saag we have EVER tasted, this is truly a restaurant worthy of dining at and supporting during this period. Great value for money, if you want impeccable food in a relaxed and classy environment.
Can't wait to try their butter chicken next!

We frequently have really good Indian meals in the UK and was “missing” a good curry whilst travelling Aus/NZ in the last month.
The hotel suggest we try Flavour of India here in Rushcutters Bay - and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
We were made most welcome and service was really attentive. As to the food, it was excellent. The menu had similar titles to what we have in the UK, with the clear option to have different levels of “ spiciness” with most things.
This was because the main chef was also the owner and was able and willing to adapt recipes to taste.
After service this owner came into the restaurant to discuss and take feedback on his food - he has been cooking here for 30 years.
I would certainly recommend this restaurant with great food and a great experience.

A group of 8 of us went to Australia for vacation from the US. We went to Flavour of India on New Years Eve, around 45 minutes before closing. We had called before hand because we knew we were cutting it close to closing time, but they insisted that we come anyways. Once we got there, the service was amazing and quick! Our food was absolutely delicious, it felt like authentic Indian food. At the end of our meal, the Chef personally came out to give us a cherry & gave us the chocolate naan and fresh mango on the house, despite us there merely 45 minutes before the new year! He was incredibly hospitable and you could tell he truly wants his guests to enjoy their meal. Wonderful restaurant, will definitely be going again next time we visit Sydney!

Visited for a friends birthday and we had a lovely meal.
The owner and staff made us feel very welcome, giving complimentary desserts as it was my friends birthday.
The food was great, and served in good time.
Would definitely recommend and will for sure be heading back.
The best Indian I’ve had since moving to Australia!

I had dinner this evening with two of my friends and not only was the meal delicious but the staff were SO catering to my food requirements. Not once was it a problem and I’d go as far as saying they went out of their way to advise me of meals I could eat and which could have the dairy removed. Really grateful for how enjoyable you all made the experience. Hayat the chef is just lovely and I can understand why Mr Hutchence himself loved this place. THANK YOU!! Heidi x

fair prices good variety and friendly The food we ordered was so tasty and full of flavour not at all greasy. The service was very good just wish it was my local. They obviously have won plenty of awards over the years as the certificates are proudly display

Me and my mum came here for dinner. The service was very good , we were given free appetisers and two lovely desserts on the house. The food was very nice however could of been a little cheaper. However we had a lovely experience and would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes authentic Indian cruisine.

We live nearby and have walked past Flavour of India many times, always seeing it busy and looking nice. We are so pleased to have finally come inside!
We had a beautiful meal with such incredibly delicious food. Especially the Charcoal Platter! The service too was so nice and really made the evening and experience so great. Head Chef Hayat even came out to introduce himself and check on how we were enjoying it. He’s such a fun guy and even treated us to some tastes of dessert! Who would have known how good chocolate Naan is!
We’ll be back. Thank you!

We had such an amazing experience at Flavour of India. The food was delicious and chef Hayat came out after dinner and hand delivered not one but two free desserts. He is so lovely and his positive attitude and smile was infectious :) He made the night very special, high recommend this place

I went here for a simple low-key birthday celebration and end up having a fabulous night!! Firstly, the food is absolutely amazing! I’ve never had better Indian cuisine. I could eat the onion bhaji and the crispy coconut prawns for the rest of my life! Asked for a special request not to make the food to spicy for the kids and it was PERFECT!! The food was delicious enough to keep my almost 2y old entertained for over two hours!! The restaurant has a beautiful cosy atmosphere with lovely attentive staff who really look after you. Mohammad went above and beyond and was so kind and caring to us; it blew me away. He talked us through the concept of the restaurant, he guided us through the menu and recommended dishes for us and pairings. I cannot stress how brilliant the experience was from start to finish. Absolute gem of a place. It’s like dealing with true friends of the family. Can’t wait to go back!

Went to flavour of India to catch up with some friends, we arrived 15 minutes early and they let us in, made us feel at home and were immediately welcoming and friendly. The food came out promptly, we had the Spicy crab, chicken tikka, butter chicken and mushroom saag aloo.. and I couldn’t tell you which one I liked more, they were all great. The food was really well cooked and the flavouring was incredible... the service, was second to none! They paid such great attention to us, were really helpful and friendly, and even gave us an unexpected ‘surprise’ desert (we had to close our eyes).
Honestly would recommend this place to everyone, will definitely be back again!

Our regular Indian takeaway, we have ordered from here half a dozen times now and have always had a reliably good experience.
At first, we thought the dishes looked small but we have found that they are more substantial than they look because of the generous amount of meat in each curry. In particular, the Beef Kerala and Goat Curry (both of which have meat and potato) were not bulked up with a disproportionate amount of potato. They seem to use a good quality meat and we haven’t ever found it fatty or gristly.
Vegetable samosas are some of the nicest I’ve had. They are quite large and we usually split them between two now.
We were divided on the Raita yoghurt sauce - it was a little too thick for me but others preferred it like this. Similarly, some of us found the Fresh Mango Chicken a little too sweet and mild but I thought it was a lovely complement to the spicier beef dishes.
Rice servings vary so much between Indian restaurants that it’s often hard to know how much to order. Here, one serving is only enough for one person so you need one per person.
Free poppadoms and mango chutney were included with our order which was nice.
Prices are reasonable. Almost all of the curries are $23-$24. There’s a good selection of 8 vegetarian dishes which are $16-$18.
Flavour of India is located on busy New South Head Rd, almost exactly opposite Edgecliff Station. Parking can be tight around here but the Eastpoint shopping centre carpark is a good bet.

My 3 Young kids (10,8,6) and I had a fantastic meal together at Flavour of India Edgecliff. The owner and head chef was very friendly and suprised the kids with a Nutella desert and Mango Ice cream for them. I definitely recommend this restaurant and will certainly be going back.

The flavour of India was nothing but warm and welcoming from the moment I had arrived. The food was sensational and I was left feeling happy and satisfied with 4 different kinds of dishes. The service was fast and friendly, creating an atmosphere that made our farewell dinner easy and enjoyable.
Hayat the head chef came out to say hello and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and gave complimentary desserts as a farewell gift.
I recommend visiting this restaurant if you want to eat delicious Indian food and experience the greatest service within the eastern suburbs.

It was our first experience at this restaurant. Without any exaggeration, this was the best Indian restaurant to which we've ever been. Each dish was delicately spiced and filled with fantastic aroma, all presented beautifully. There was also a rich and unique menu for both dishes and drinks; the variety of the latter was particularly noteworthy. The punch (sangria) was a must-try! Flavour of India is also reasonably priced. And the head chef, Hayat, made this experience especially memorable, by conversing with each customer at every table himself. This gesture was especially welcoming and made us feel valued. Suitable for all occasions including the first date. :)
