Every time I come to this shop the food is really good! The food may be expensive, but it’s worth it! The burgers could use more sauce, but apart from that, the restaurant is really great, they always have great service! 10/10 would recommend!

The best chips ever. It’s owned by a local family who have been in the area for over 20 years. It’s always friendly and fast service. My daughter every time she come home the first thing she wants is hot chips as they are just the best. Being in a small community you have to be good.

Bought fish cocktails and chips tonight (13/1/22)
Fish dry and chips stale, seems they were reheated several times, unappetising.

For those from the big smoke, you may not have seen a proper old fashioned fish and chip shop, but they are not so rare in Lake Macquarie. Rathmines takeaway has everything you expect - fish, chips, burgers, chiko rolls, potato scallops... you get the picture. Sensitive new-age diners can raise their noses and move on - the deep fryer reigns supreme as the cooking platform. Get a large chips and remember what chips used to taste like - big, fat, juicy and cheap. Or the burger with the lot including bacon, pineapple and beetroot. Where else in the world are burgers made like that?

Great service by family and staff members. Clean and tidy, fresh cooking oil.
Burgers are large and sometimes I have difficulty eating two works burgers, depends how hungry I am. But they are great. Best fish and chips store in the area. Stop by order your take-away and sit opposite in the park by the lake and enjoy a touch of paradise.

My sister put me onto this venue. She used to live in the area but now drives back several times a year as she swears that the burgers and chips are some of the best she has ever been supplied in her 50+ years.
I went there after visiting an old friend and realising that my sister had mentioned it as I was driving along the waterfront near the community hall opposite. I decided to give it a go.
The hamburger with egg was delicious. It was made precisely to my specifications which are a little different to the norm. The chips were superb, thick 13-millimetre square prisms served extremely hot as the god of food and gourmets intended. They were dry to the touch, not oily. Not soft but also not hardened to a crisp.
I will be venturing off the main road again some time soon when my hunger pangs are piqued.

Friendly, quick and affordable. Don't waste your money on Big Macs! If you want a quick nutrious meal get the crumbed fish, a small chips and add your own salad. Tasty and filling and the kids love it!

We frequently get something from the takeaway. Remember its a takeaway and not a restaurant. Service is efficient but they do get busy at times. Mainly its locals at the place so that's always a good sign.
