Great family restaurant with choices for vegetarians and meat-lovers. Good selection of cocktails and fun casual atmosphere. Would recommend as a solid choice when dining in Graskop.

After a long day of visiting the Kruger we stopped for dinner on a whim. Pleasently surprised. Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere and decor. Gave the four of us a large basket filled with fresh bread and spicy diping souce. Best of all the burgers (we tried both the chicken and beef) we had were big, flavourfull and simply delicous!

I can say that the staff there is very hospitable, you can use wi-fi there if you want. The food was not as delicious as we expected. We've been there twice and we were not fully satisfied with the food.

I had the fish of the day and opted for the healthier choice and asked for salad instead of chips. Well, I got charged the full R147.00 for the fish and then an additional R27.00 for the salad (4 small slices of tomato, 3 onion rings, 3 slices of cucumber and a heap of lettuce), when I questioned the waiter... Food was good here. I eated twice, once half grilled chicken and once chicken curry, which I liked most. Pery-pery sauce is excellent and bread also (and I usually don't eat bread). One minus - chicken breast part is quite dry (but don't take me wrong it's OK)

The shells on the prawns didn't come off easily but and were too spicy, the steak was not cooked medium and was a little tough. The menu is too expensive for what you get and rice was R21 extra, cheek I thought. Compared to the Harbour House in Kalk Bay & Constantia, I would rate this place poor and far... More

we were a group of 4 people that went there for a snack. Service is good and their chilly is nice and hot. IF you are into chicken livers, go for it my little friends, it is superb! I would not however suggest the Portuguese salad. Try their chilly sauce. If you are a real chilly eater...... They also have... More

We were directed to this restaurant by the Graskop Hotel as they were unable to provide dinner owing to our 'late' arrival [6:30pm!!] We were a party of three couples and were enormously impressed by the warm welcome we received and the quality of the cooking. The spiced chicken livers were a highlight. Steaks were cooked to perfection and the... More

What nonsense, we have numerous lemon butter options. In fact most of our dishes give you 4 options, lemon butter and mild, medium or hot piri piri. Its clearly stated in the menu and the waiter asks your choice. If you order something to hot to handle whose fault is it? Our prices are in line with similar restaurants in... More

Being a sea-faring nation the Portuguese were intrepid explorers and among the first Europeans to visit the Cape of Good Hope in the 1500s. In the Colonial era that followed they left their mark in various places on the African continent – Angola, Moçambique and South Africa. From the indigenous people they learnt the usefulness of chilies (piri-piri), which they combined with more traditionally Portuguese ingredients such as olive oil, lemon juice and garlic. Where European Portuguese food is delicately flavoured, Portuguese– Southern African cuisine is fearlessly fiery. Canimambo is a family run restaurant, where you can meet Carla, the Mozambican/Portuguese owner, husband Lance, sons Sean and Wesley, daughters Courtney and Nicole and son-in-law Nando. We pride ourselves in authentic cuisine, friendly service and a cozy atmosphere. Look out for the following when visiting us:The breadbasket: Portuguese rolls are an absolute treat and a meal within a meal. Figados de galinha á piri-piri (piri-piri chicken livers) is a local institution. Use the bread to mop up the lovely juices and you will understand why they never go out of fashion. Batata frita - hands down the South African Portuguese make the best potato chips in the country. Double fried with lots of salt and dollops of vinegar on demand, makes it comfort food in the extreme. Espetada de bife - The Portuguese espetada consists of cubes of perfectly aged rump steak, bay leaves and lemon dipped in course salt before landing on the grill. The natural bay leaf flavour permeates the meat and the salt seals those meaty juices in. Charred on the outside and succulent inside, it’s a steak meal with a difference. Galinha piri-piri (Piri-piri chicken) arguably the most popular dish in South Africa served hot, mild or with lemon butter sauce. Camarão grelhado na brasa (flame grilled prawns), sardinhas assadas na brasa (flame grilled sardines) and ervilhas com chourico e ovos escalfados (pea stew with chourico and poached eggs) are some of the other popular Portuguese dishes on the menu.
