Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

When we visit the straits, we always try to take home some frozen white fish. This is the first time we tried Krueger's. It is easy to find with ample parking. Being the only customers, we were immediately served. They had a supply of a variety of fresh caught fish. It was pricey but with fuel costs, fishermen have to make a living. We bought white fish at $14 per pound (enough to feed two). We also picked up some lake perch at $25 a pound. The fish were good sized and the pound included 12 fillets. This is not a fancy or decorated place but a working store with people who get the job done. I am looking forward to eating our purchases.

My fishing husband takes all our fish yearly and recommends to all his customers to have there fish brained and smoked at Krueger. The krugers family are amazing and the quality of there work is excellent. All our return customers rave abut there experience here.

In non-pandemic times, there is no doubt that this place would have received a 5* rating from me. It's a real deal type of place, lacking in any pretense. While I've never had whitefish kielbasa, I have had smoked whitefish and kielbasa plenty of times, and have to say that it was fairly amazing. The other smoked offerings looked great, too. However, the counterperson who helped me, answered my many questions, and provided a sample when asked was not only not masked, she didn't social distance. This would have been happily welcomed in the Before Times, but it's now the age of Covid. I would hope to be able to try more of their offerings whenever I'm next in the area, and when we don't have to worry about distance and maskings.

Found this place about nine years ago,and I’m a old guy, spent my life looking for the best jerky. Found it. I live in n Maryland and gladly pay the freight. Great friendly staff always remember me when I call to reorder.Just read a review that gave them one star because they were closed when he got there, imagine how many stars he would have given if he a flat tire on the way there?

Second time I stopped there well before closing time, and although it says"open" online, again, not open. Losing faith in what used to be a favorite place.

I was looking forward to trying this place based on it's location in Michigan and the reviews I've read here. But when we walked into the store we found the woman working with the fish in the back, and the woman working the counter, not wearing masks during the pandemic. That made me nervous, but we were still willing to give it a try until we watched the woman behind the counter reach into the cooler and handle the fish with her bare hands. We turned and walked out. I don't know how the fish is, because I wasn't willing to risk getting sick to try it. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g42424-d2322536-r769827869-Krueger_s_Fish_Market-Mackinaw_City_Cheboygan_County_Michigan.html#

A delicious stop before you head over the bridge. We tried their cajun and regular fish sausage and were very impressed at the flavor. You can find all sorts of smoked treats here, and they all looked tasty!

We stopped in for some whitefish pate, and crackers; which we then snacked upon, while sitting by the Lake and enjoying the views. The pate was very tasty. The shop is a treat in itself; with barrels of fish in various stages of preparation, and a number of selections from which to choose. The staff person was friendly and informative. We will definitely return and try more options, on our next visit to the area.

You can all kind of smoked local fishes. White fishes were good. They also had trout and salmon. I found it a bit salty to me. Price is good.

We stopped for some whitefish dip and smoked fish on the way home. Dh was happy to grab a slab of salmon and a couple of whole smoked fish. We grabbed a whitefish dip without onion for my Dad. I appreciated it also that they sold ice and coolers onsite. We will be back!

Every trip I take to my hometown in northern Michigan (sadly only once a year or less often), I take a quick run up to Mackinaw City for Krueger’s smoked fish. This time around I bought smoked trout and whitefish. It was gone within a week. I have to fight my 8 year old for my fair share! The person at the counter is always friendly and helpful. I also get the biggest thrill from the waxed paper and string packaging. Last time we were there, a guy in the back was expertly gutting fish like a dang machine. I love this place. I wish I could get up to Mackinaw City more oftenif only for the smoked fish.
