The overall feel and taste of the food is much better here compared to American next door. It's cozy and doesn't attract rowdy clientele like I have observed next door.

What can I say? The food is ALWAYS spot-on at Lafayette. It doesn't matter what time of day or night, it is amazing.
Went here and had Coney Dog and fries then went next door to American Coney and had same thing. Service much better at Lafeyette. Feltlike I was intruding at American-waiter kinda brusque. But Food at both was fanatastic!! I was pleasantly stuffed after both.

No more coney's for me... Doctor's orders. But I busted my diet for 2 on 1 at Lafayette. Still the best...it's the special snap in the dogs. It was worth it!!! Sorry Doc.
