Very good old fashioned hamburgers with fresh grilled onions. No wonder this place has been in Birmingham for so many years.

Finally, after living in the area for 40+ years, I tried the Hunter House. It was awesome! Double cheese burger w/ grilled onions and pickle, french fries and chocolate shake. It was everything I hoped - greasy goodness! The staff were friendly and the service was quick. The price was reasonable (double my order noted above - 2 of us... More

Picture White Castle with better tasting burgers that don't feel as if they have been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Iconic restaurant with outstanding greasy spoon food

I was in Birmingham for work and stayed across the street from Hunter House. It's a throwback to the diners of the past. Small menu featuring burgers, fries and great shakes. Fun eating records hang on the wall for adults and kids to try to beat. Really reasonable prices and friendly staff make this a great stop for families. I'll... More

You'll need at least two of the smaller sized hamburgers to make up for one. The smell of fried onions greet you when walking in the door. Grab a stool and include some fries with your burger. You can be in and out in fifteen minutes

We stopped here after leaving the Detroit Zoo for a quick bite. The place was busy at 1pm on a Sunday afternoon. There is a parking area that is free. We ate inside sitting at the counter and ordered cheeseburger, fries and shake. The fries are fresh and hot. Unsalted so you can salt them how you want. Inside you... More

Have you ever watched a well-oiled machine at work? We watched the crew at Hunter House work with precise perfection. Chili fries with cheese, cheeseburger with onions, and fresh shakes!!

Excellent little hamburger joint. No wait staff. Order at the counter and sit at the counter (they bring your food to you) or the counter around the windows (you pick it up). Burgers are cooked to order. Grilled onions are perfectly done. Fries are a must. Fast, friendly staff.

Is what Hunter House does, and they have doing it great for many years. Grilled onion burgers, and french fries is what you come to this little gem for.
