This is a very local unattractive place with a great breakfast for locals and those traveling through. Always crowed, often with people waiting at the door. Not too terribly expensive. Worth the try.

I eat here a couple times in November. I can always count of fast and friendly service and good food. Keep an eye out for the specials :)

Mediocre food & service in a dingy place. Nothing else to say about a place that can't produce a pat of butter - only margarine. 😑

We were simply looking for a place to grab a quick meal at a reasonable place, and this place ended up fitting our needs quite nicely. A typical "mom and pop" type family business, we found it to have a wide variety on the menu. Breakfast is served pretty much all day (which is what I enjoy), so my needs... More

Service is good and accommodating, but the food is somewhat less than ordinary. Onion soup very disappointing. Chicken salad has too much mayo and not enough chicken. Chicken cutlet on one salad was "mushy". Chef salad less than ordinary and the hard boiled egg on it had a brown/gray yolk....quickly eliminated. Coffee is high...$2.25. And so it went and we... This is not a fancy spot, just a down home spot where everybody is given a friendly welcome and a quick cuppa. The refills just keep coming. Don't go to the "The Hat" expecting gourmet -- it's a diner; they excel at breakfast. The food is no frills but locals and college students and their parents keep coming back. It's... More

This is a fine place for a breakfast of sinful chocolate chip pancakes or any of the usual staples. The waitstaff are friendly and efficient, and the chefs (really short order cooks) have mastered the art of getting eggs prepared as requested as well as getting warm toast out at the same time, both of which elementary tasks confound the... The restaurant was VERY close to my motel. It's in a small building and has a "Mom and Pop" vibe. It was quite busy at 11a.m. on a Sunday morning but the server came to my table quickly, took my request for hot water(for my own tea) and brought it promptly. She was friendly. The menu is extensive for a... More

Good selection of tasty food, friendly service and at reasonable prices. We visit the area twice a year and always stop for breakfast. We frequently have a few small children with us and the waitstaff is friendly and understanding.

The first 6 people I asked in Williamstown said the Chef's Hat is the best breakfast place in town. And it opens at 5AM for the early birds.
