Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a early morning visit and had hoped for some breakfast but food items are limited and more morning tea/biscuit style. On the more positive side the coffee was great. The shop sold lots of kitchen gadgets and the retro display was very cool. Seating outside was also eye catching. Would stop for coffee again if passing through

Located right on the highway near the centre of Tiaro. There is no food licence so you can only buy a small selection of little cakes and large biscuits but that is OK. Just a little extra nibble to go with your coffee. It was very busy when we walked in so there was a little wait but the great coffee we both received was worth it. Lots of little charms from yesteryear inside the shop to look at while you are waiting.

Great little cafe on the highway, perfect early morning stop for excellent coffee, great seat with just a touch of early morning sun, and some delicious treats to fuel our journey south. Pencil in a coffee here, a delightful discovery. Shop has a groovy retro feel with comfy furniture made from oil cans and scrap, hard to imagine but true.

I should have stopped at Tiaro sooner at Retro Espresso, perfect coffee stop, best priced coffee I've had in ages. The interior of the cafe was delightful, filled from floor to ceiling with retro memorabilia, so colourful with large collections of random stuff: mix masters, telephones, airline soft carry on luggage, old boardgames. Put the brakes on and do yourself a favour and stop and have a break at Retro Espresso.

Great little spot. Lots of great retro stuff to look at. Coffee was great and service was great. The shop is decorated with old items from the past like mixmaster, old posters, old Tv. It’s really cool and we stumbled on it by accident but I would highly recommend a stop here if you are passing through.

Been a few times now. Convenient stop - even with a caravan on the back. Polite staff, quick service and great tasting coffee. Nice to look around the shop while waiting for a takeaway too!

Stopped in for a coffee after leaving Brisbane on a road trip about three hours earlier. Perfectly located on the highway, close to a council park and amenities and there is plenty of parking on the side street. Coffee was first class, service was great and the coffee shop has some wonderful "retro" items on display and for sale. Well worth the stop.

Efficient, friendly service and fantastic coffee. Temperature was perfect, taste was strong but not bitter. As good as any coffee in Melbourne.

Spotted retro Cafe on Google maps and decided to drop in there. Lots of interesting things to look at in the shop and the coffee and the iced coffee are made to perfection.

The shop is colourful, quirky and interesting. The coffees and chai lattes were very good. The service wasn’t welcoming. Visit the great butcher over the road!!

Had received a recommendation to drop in here for a coffee on one of my many work related trips from Brisbane to Maryborough. Dismal service, the girl behind the counter looked like shed been sucking lemons. She offered no welcome or greeting despite me being the only person in the shop at that time. Her order taking communication consisted of a grunt and raised eyebrows. The guy making the coffee was similar and expressionless even though I made eye contact and smiled. The shop at least was interesting with many items of memorabilia from my childhood on display. The coffee arrived and was placed on the counter without a thank you and the server turned their back and walked away. Great business promotion guys! The coffee? To my basic taste was weak in strength, unremarkable in flavour but I have had worse. Needless to say, I won't be going back in on my next journey.

I went to retro coffee today in Tiaro. I have been here several times and had good service. Today was absolutely disgusting embarrassing and shameful for Retro Coffee. Their service or should I say lack thereof was comically pathetic. They did not give me the right order and when I politely requested a replacement they refused saying that I placed the wrong order. The male manager was absolutely abhorrent in his demeanor and frightened me and my children. I do not recommend to go to this shop and I will certainly not return. Overpriced rubbish. He argued with me and berated me in front of 10 or so customers. A real chauvinistic attitude.

After selecting two cookies from the front counter, I left the cookies at the counter as I looked around the shop waiting to be served. After noticing a racist art piece on the wall and a Make America Great Again cap in the shop, I decided I was not going to be spending my money there and left. The shopkeeper began yelling at me and then followed me out, standing in the door way, yelling at me in the street. He demanded that I return to the shop and put the two cookies that I had left on the counter back. It was an intimidating experience to be followed out and yelled at in the shop and the street. Furthermore, it was humilating as the shopkeeper made out that I had stolen from him.

An interesting little cafe with an 80's theme. Great coffee and friendly, personal service Located conveniently on the main road. Well worth stopping by for a coffee.
