Expected good old fashioned quality food & service but …
Average food for value
Average handling of an error made by kitchen. Cannot believe that their response to a wrong meal was that we had to just have it, & not replace it.
Bar staff & young service staff were all lovely & felt bad for them caught in the middle.
Notice business is for sale so maybe management don’t care that we will never come back !!

The Hideaway Station Hotel is named well as it is located a few streets away from the highway at Tiaro and the railway line runs close by.
We have visited here a few times for their Sunday lunches. Parking is out the front and you can either sit inside or outside on the verandah or at bench tables under the umbrellas. Great place to sit and have a quiet drink or a casual meal.

Besides a flat beer the meal was good portion, great outdoor area nice play area for kids,
I will return and enjoy the outdoor area

Went for evening dinner, ordered crumbed steak plus chicken Kiev for partner.
Steak was like rubber with rubbery crumb coating, Kiev very similar.
Don't think they have a qualified chef, just seems like a cook arrives to do the cooking at 6pm
Would not go back.

Everything we could want on a warmish Tuesday evening. Cold beers on tap, varied menu and prices offering traditional pub food [with a triangle of bread & butter] plus friendly staff. We sat on the verandah but the original dining room is gorgeous and there's a big shady paved beer garden plus a grassed area. Dog friendly. Supports #countrypubcamping.

Went for dinner and unfortunately it wasn't good at all, garlic bread looked like someone had literally run over it and so we complained and it was happily replaced but although it looked like garlic bread it wasn't crunchy and totally lacked any garlic flavour then the creamy garlic prawns arrived and the prawns were beautifully cooked but thr rice was way overcooked and the sauce was very very thick and tasteless, more like plain white sauce which only gluged up the rice even more but again the cook was very concerned and refunded our money for the prawn meal.
Let's hope they can iron out the problems and at some stage we will go back and try again with the hope their doing really well.Good luck .

Stopped off for lunch as I love pub lunches and had heard of this hidden jem.
It started off great, lovely,friendly, pet welcomed place which oozed character.
Stayed for lunch, I ordered the crumbed steak on mash, wifey had salmon and my adult son had steak sanga. Please don’t get me wrong, lovely people but if you cannot hire a chef do not open kitchen. We were there at 12.25pm and already they had run out of vegetables, hey no dramas who has veges for lunch anyway.
The salmon was unedable, my crumbed steak and mash was, I don’t know, just unbelievably horrible. I’m sorry to be so negative but like I said, if you can’t get at least a cook then shut the kitchen. I would have been quite happy having a couple of frothies then moving onto somewhere else for lunch. I do not know the circumstances of the day but sometimes you just need to say sorry, no chef today.

Nostalgic bye gone era. Hotel is in pristine condition renovated to its former glory. Beautifully maintained with old world charm. Excellent pub food with friendly charming service. Meals made by the owner who has owned the hotel for over 40 years. We’re planning our next visit and taking friends with us

We enjoyed a steak sandwich with chips, and a drink. We sat on the side verandah because there was a pleasant breeze on a 34 degree day. We could hear the music from the beer garden which added to the atmosphere. The steak was perfectly cooked! The service was excellent, and the hostess was very friendly and checked that we were happy with our meal. We would definitely break our journey here again at lunch time.

We went here for dinner and had a drink. Really nice place they had a gorgeous fire lit in the dining room and I had the steak and chips with side salad. Absolutely lovely food and really nice friendly attentive staff. I’d definitely recommend!

Beautiful old country pub full of charm with the old fashioned country service. Meals were quick and large! Drinks were cold. Glad we stopped in after a long day driving.

We stopped for a quick lunch. Super friendly service, cold beer and a fantastic menu including home made choices. Really delightful experience, well worthwhile the stop just off the highway.

The worst meal we have ever had and we waited for over an hour to find that out. The cook/owner is a rude, cantankerous argumentative individual. Drink were seriously over priced. Avoid at all cost.
