Had a very nice dinner with my wife last weekend. Started with a shrimp appetizer that was a great balance of heat and flavor. Would have been nice to be offered more than a slice of bread - although it was very good. My wife's scallops were very good and the squash/bacon side I had with my chicken was outstanding.... More

John Andrews is an upscale restaurant with a comfortable bar area and several dining rooms. We prefer to sit in the back, where there's twinkling light on the trees and the atmosphere is intimate and romantic. The appetizers and pastas are so varied that we stuck with those - you can get appetizer-size entrees too. The pastas are extraordinary in... More

Restaurant is in a pretty building in an out of the way location. The parking lot was full on a Tuesday night which was surprising. However, the front room had unoccupied tables. Good separation between bar and dining areas. Staff was friendly and professional and slow. We were happy with our meals. The ricotta gnocchi was heavenly especially since it... More

We visited John Andrews for the first time this past week. The restaurant is in a old New England House with two large dining areas and additional tables and seating in the bar. We were very nicely greeted and seated promptly. Service was reasonably good although the server failed to keep my water glass full which was not ideal after... More

We went with friends who have a home nearby. Lovely setting and 6 of us sat around a lovely round table. Frequented by a lot of NYers who have homes in the area. Definitely the best meal we have had out in this area. It's not average and it's not very good. It's - good!

Sometimes divine; sometimes just okay. John Andrews seems to have lost its knack for consistent high quality somewhere long the way. You may get a divine meal, but you may not. Seems to depend on the kitchen staff's mood ...

The first time we visited this remote establishment back in ’08 or ‘09, it used to be called “JA”… just that ~ “JA”. It changed sometime over the last couple of years into the current, expanded version, and possibly (? - not sure) also expanded somewhat in size, but retained its fine dining quality. I say remote, because its located... More

This restaurant came very strongly recommended by both are innkeeper and others we had met during our vacation in the Berkshires. We were not disappointed. The menu was similar to other high-end Berkshire restaurants we have visited. I had a on-the-bone in pork chop, and my companion had the halibut. Both were outstanding. Particularly good were the garnishes with both... More

A lovely meal for my birthday. Simple but elegant decoration. Wait staff and hostess could not have been better: well-informed and knowledgeable, genuinely friendly, attentive without being intrusive. Service was excellent, rapid and accurate. Food was delicious. Wine list is extensive. There is a reason why so many people think this is the best dining in the area - IT... More

We loved this place a few years ago, so we returned this July 4th weekend. This is a beautiful restaurant with an approach to food that we really admire and enjoy. I have never written a negative review before, but am writing this because they need a wake up call that they are slipping. The sommelier was terrific, and very... More
