We frequent John Andrews Restaurant as often as we can as it is the best restaurant in the Berkshires and beyond. Chef Dan is superb in his delivery of farm to table, delicious, cuisine. The service is top-notch and the atmosphere is cozy and elegant....More

I seriously cannot imagine anyone not having an outstanding meal at John Andrews. We live in (tony) Hudson, where there are certainly some good (and many overpriced/overhyped) restaurants and it is a true pleasure and treat for us to get to JA. The menu is...More

Simply the best duck entree I have ever had in my life. Exceedingly well conceived (lovely duck breast + a delicious duck confit) and wonderfully executed. And, my wife's Gnocchi was the lightest, most delicious either of us have ever tasted. Interesting selections on the...More

This restaurant didn't respond to an email reservation request made according to their website instructions for 36 hours, only to say "no." The excuse: they are closed Wednesday. For a holiday weekend, the Thursday-evening response left us a bit disadvantaged, but we luckily found an...More

We had an excellent dinner. It started with 2 kinds of freshly baked bread. The trout was divine, the duck was delicious and special with different cooking methods for each piece of duck, and the ricotta gnocchi was well-balanced with greens and squash. The service...More

Disappointing food and experience. The lamb was bland, unimaginative, a bit tough; the duck was over salted and overcooked. We saw our waitperson twice - once when she took our order and again to say goodbye after someone else brought the check. So never got...More

This is my 3rd visit to this charming farm to table rest. In the Berkshire area. The menu features something for everyone! Fish meat and veggie. The service was impeccable, because, there are 3 people or sometime even 4 people who take care of the...More

Certainly a lot of casual dress - I have worn both jeans (over my wife's objection) and khakies (most of the time). Cut offs, men in tank tops and bare feet would not fly. If a tux is a 10 and nude is a 0 I would put them... More

John Andrews Farmhouse offers a unique farm-to-table dining experience in the Berkshires. Built in the late 1700s, the restaurant’s rustic, country charm is enhanced by a cozy fireplace in winter months and, in summer, al fresco dining is available on the terrace.

The restaurant features New American cuisine with Italian influences, rooted in the region's agricultural history. Dan Smith has been the chef-owner since 1990, creating seasonal menus long before farm-to-table was a trend. Known as the “architect of modern Berkshire cooking,” as coined by Travel & Leisure, Dan offers a unique taste-of-place dining experience.

Named one of the World’s 25 Best Farmstead Experiences in The Daily Meal, John Andrews Farmhouse is a Lonely Planet Top Choice and has been awarded the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence, Yankee Magazine Editor’s Choice and the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.

Prix Fixe specials include Mom’s Meatloaf Monday (winter only) and Giovedi on Thursday nights (year round). John Andrews offers an extensive wine list, full cocktail bar and a lighter-fare bar menu. Open Thursday to Tuesday and closed Wednesdays, all major credit cards are accepted.
