The waiter was very nice and interested in pleasing us. He gave us a couple of tastes of beers. He also gave us some very helpful advice on which beer to order. He did a that with a great attitude. The cauliflower spring onion soup was a little thin or watery for my taste. It also needed some salt and... More

I wasn't really impressed by this restaurant. Sarma which is ranked #1 in Somerville is much much more deserving of the ranking.

We visited Highland Kitchen after reading many favorable reviews and were delighted with our experience. Our server was excellent - knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Many of the other diners are clearly regulars and were greeted by multiple staff members. The cocktails were great! I particularly enjoyed the Mark 'n Stormy (Maker's Mark and housemade ginger beer). The special appetizer of... More

What else have I had, fish and chips, short ribs, many specials but my all time favorite, well 2nd to the fried chicken is the shrimp and grits, WOW!!! How could I forget... More

This small restaurant is a mile or so from the Davis Square T. If you drive the parking is scarce. It seemed crowded when we arrived, but our party of 4 was actually seated pretty quickly. Also, there seemed to be a wait, but we did not feel the least bit rushed. Our waiter was nice, fun, attentive and helped... More

Highland is a great local spot but you have to be flexible /willing to wait fir a table. Buffalo brussel sprouts and oysters are my favorite but the Cuban Ruben is a close second. So many cocktails to choose from it's too hard to pick a favorite!

Apps: cheese fritters, octopus + a special - all were OK - not great. Entrees - goat stew, jambalaya, chicken, ruben - first 2 were great - highly recommend both. Great drink menu. Service was inattentive - the place packed

Highland Kitchen is a fun place. When you walk in it'll probably be busy and crowded and look chaotic but the staff there is on top of it. If you roll with it - grab a drink and hang out until you get seated - you will be glad you did, (They do not take reservations by the way). This... More

Beware! No reservations accepted. If you don't mind waiting a bit, this establishment is awesome! Decent size bar area that you can reserve seats to dine by asking the bartender. Southern fare, excellent choices, and great service. On street parking or a tiny lot in the back. Loved it and will be going back soon to try other offers on... More
