Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A nice stop on the highway opposite the Ron Barassi bust and the The Big Tree. Good service, old time atmosphere and quality coffee and food.

I love country towns and their quirky shops, but this one has missed the mark for me. I wouldn't say it's not worth stopping, maybe it is... it's certainly got potential. It looks neglected to me. It's dark inside and while it clearly had old...world charm once... I would hazard a guess and say it's changed owners since then. I stopped to get a drink... initially wanted coffee but they don't do lactose free milk, so that was put behind me. So the town is quaint, there are a few things to look at in town... this store has potential to be something special...but it's not there yet. And then there's the question... who is Fergus?More

Unfortunately I ate a sausage roll last weekend which did not taste quite rite. I quickly became ill and suffered symptoms for 5 days. This sausage roll was the only meal I consumed over the weekend that I didn’t share with my family, they have...all remained healthy. My GP diagnosed food poisoning as the cause of my illness. I will raise this issue with the new owners, clearly their quality control is not yet functional. Please be cautious when consuming food from this establishment in the immediate future.More

Coffee was to die for, the service was even better! I’d hire any of those girls in a heartbeat! I’m not a huge pie fan, but the homemade steak and pepper pie was great! And massive!!

We dropped in to get something for afternoon tea on a busy Saturday. The store was full of locals buying fresh rolls, pies etc for lunch, but our eyes noted the yummy slices and cakes on display. We opted for a bee-sting {voted best ever}...& bread-and-butter pudding cake (a first & not the last). We found the staff busy but friendly & helpful with COVID safe protocols inside the store. There are outdoor dining areas.More

Weather was perfect, but unfortunately only to find they closed early for the Melbourne cup. Not disappointed and would not say i had a bad experience but know for next time to get there before 12pm next year. Hopefully the new owners keep as much...of the ambience that it already has. Thats if its sold by then.More

This place surprised. Fantastic coffee and local produce on the outskirts of gold mining ghost towns. Worth a refuel here!

The pies and pasties in the oven looked fabulous , but as it was 10am we ordered coffee only. The flat white coffee arrived , pale, milky, lifeless, flavourless , thin. Resembled a milky cup of tea. Tasted terrible. A very lively cheerful atmosphere, but...at $9 for two coffees we expected at least minimal barista skills.More

The most gorgeous food at very reasonable prices. I always buy heaps to take home after I have eaten. It is a typical Country little, although not that little, cafe come general store. Beautiful place.

What a pleasing delight visit this small town general store. Step back in time with friendly service and true style of that old time general corner store. Stopped for lunch with a good, generous and hearty Beef and Guinness Pie and Salad, and homemade tomato...sauce, $13.00. Delicious. An assortment of pies, quiches, muffins, cakes, slices...you can't go wrong. Atmospheric, tables inside and out, and a quaint courtyard, oh so pretty. This place is a by-gone pleasure worthy of a country drive and simple, unpretentious stop for morning/afternoon tea or lunch. Fabulous.More

I have travelled all around Australia and have eaten some pretty impressive pies. But I have to say the chunky meat pie from this place blew my mind. Yum yum pigs bum, this gets my aussie wide vote, best pie in Australia.

Definitely a worthwhile stop for lunch. Relaxing environment, friendly service and delicious homemade pies. The store and town is like stepping back in time to the quieter and slower lifestyle we used to enjoy.
