We have been here many times over the years and I have to say I feel the standards at this Legal have slipped. We sometimes get a good meal, but the consistency isn't where it used to be. I've been served brownish broccoli and generally find that the specials while they sound good miss the mark on flavor. Feel like... More

Oysters on the half were amazing. Also the salmon rice bowl. Seafood casserole was a bit heavy, but cheesy creamy and delicious. Excellent rolls - warm with butter. Service was good, but slow with special requests. Bananas foster was very good. Overall great food and experience for our group of 7.

Hadn't been to Legal in in a few years - and can probaly do that again. Nothing wrong with the food - ordinary fare. Lobster roll overflowing but lacked tasted and was chewy. Seafood stew very good. Service slow. Prices high.

One of the first restaurants to offer a wide array of gluten-free options. Great fried clams, fish of all kinds, great french fries, great salads, gluten-free beer.

I've been eating at Legal for 30 years and have had dozens of meals at many locations. As usual the food and service at the Chestnut Hill location were excellent. We had a strange experience with our seating. We with a friend who is clearly disabled and has obvious mobility issues. The host chose to seat us in a function... More

went to legal last night with a party of about 10. the food, in general, is good, but i don't think it lives up to its reputation. the chowder is excellent, and the decor is what you'd expect, but i didn't hear anyone say "wow". i had the mixed grill and the scallops were particularly nicely done. an enjoyable meal,... Our last dinner in Boston was at Legal Sea Foods, we were looking forward to it. We had a variety of fish, scallops, crab and fish and it was all quite tasty and fresh. However, my husband's order was cold, and although they did bring in a new one, it took a long time.

I have been going here a lot lately because I am guaranteed great food, good quality, and service with a smile. I love the fish and oysters here but a favorite is the shrimp cocktail. They are huge, exceedingly fresh, and cleaned. I try to go in a little earlier cuz I forget to make reservations and the receptionists are... More

For many, many years the Legal Sea Food chain has set the standard for fish dining in the Boston area. However, our recent visit was unexpectedly disappointing. My fish and chips were overly salty and I think they skimped on the gin in my gin and tonic. Also, the waitress didn't really show up regularly to inquire about diners' needs... More

Dinner at Legal Sea Foods is something of an event, for my family. The experience is right at the junction of fine dining and seeing how the other half lives. By that I mean that I feel like I'm just-good-enough to feel welcome in a place this nice, while I imagine the rich and powerful might feel the restaurant is... More

The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. One of our first restaurants and still a popular lure, we are located on Route 9 in the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center. We are still keeping things fresh at our bar, our open dining room and in our take-out counter and Fish Market. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. We’ve received a boatload of accolades including “Most Popular Boston Restaurant” (Zagat, 2012/2013), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Improper Bostonian, 2010), “Best Chowder” (Boston Magazine, 2010), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Boston Phoenix, 2009) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.
