We have usually appreciated and enjoyed the food at Ceia. We were there this past weekend for the first time in a while and and weren't impressed. We did not have a reservation and expected Ceia to be busy. It was surprisingly slow when we arrived on a Saturday night. Many open tables and open seats at the bar. They have... More

Went for drinks and apps on a whim with my spouse. Drinks and apps were very overpriced for the quantity! Paid about 75 for a couple of drinks and apps. Bar tender ignored us and spoke with the only other patron (young female) at the bar. Will not be returning to this over priced, underwhelming restaurant.

Menu was limited, service uneven on a Sunday night. Prices were high for what you received. Salad was the winner. Had bluefish. Was diappointed. Haddock was good.

We stopped here after a day on the beach because it was the only place with open outdoor seating. The service was prompt and friendly with a very professional wait person. The wine selection was very good but no value-priced wines by the glass. We ordered the Octopus and Calamari appetizers. They were beautifully presented although the portions were very... More

I've been to Newburyport now twice and ate at Ceia last time for dinner and this time for breakfast. It was phenomenal. Service was friendly, prompt, professional and I felt well cared for. The menu for both dinner and breakfast was interesting and I felt like I wanted to eat multiple items! We shared the pastry basket which had peach... More

I've now eaten at Ceia's twice and been impressed both times. The first time I had halibut fresh off the boat and last night I had "pork two ways" - loin and ribs. The ribs were, to be fair, kind of fatty, but the waitress was honest about it and if you order ribs, what do you expect? The loin... More

I had really high hopes for Ceia having watched with longing from my phone as ai follow them on social media. When we were down on the North Shore I made certain to give it a shot. Reserved via open table. Bam. Easy. However what you see isn't always what you get. Terrific menu, tons of great choices. The server... More

My wife and I had a great dinner here this past weekend. The food was outstanding. The decor was really nice, and the service was okay. We were seated at a great table at the rear of the third floor, which has it's own bar and dining area. We each had the chef's pasta tasting menu - the four course... More

After spending a lovely day on Plum Island on the hot beach this restaurant just added to our blissful day. The hostesses greeted us on arrival with enthusiasm and hospitality. We were ushered upstairs...and upstairs but truly worth the climb if you are able to do the steep trip. The bar was beautiful as was the table and floor space.... More

Description
Where laughter is required. Jacket & tie are not. Going out with friends or a special someone means choosing a neighborly place that feels as comfortable as home, where conversation flows as easily as a smooth cabernet. Welcome to Ceia Kitchen + Bar. A new kind of nightlife in the heart of Downtown Newburyport, introducing this area"s first extended kitchen hours for later night dining or tete-a-tete cocktails with flavorful small plates. Our exposed brick interior with mellow lighting, cozy banquets and featured cocktail bar beckon even impromptu visits to this reliable neighborly eatery where singles, dates and a posse of good friends are assured of a comfortable night out with delicious food and great company. The spirit of Ceia (pr. SAY-yah) is in the translation of our name: "supper" in Portuguese, the language of one country included among the inspiring stops of our coastal European culinary repertoire.
