The smell of stale cooking oil hit us immediately we opened the car door. As we waited in the bar, it was necessary to wave away countless large flies in order simply to conduct a conversation. This despite it being quite a cold, wet day....More

Some friends brought us to this 500+-year-old traditional English pub. We got there towards the closing of the kitchen. They were out of several of the food items. However, the chicken pie was delicious. The fish and chips were delicious as well, but be cautioned...More

Lovely country inn with loads of seating both inside & outside. The village is home to a lovely windmill but be warned it's a steep climb to get close. Good lunch time food selection with some nice specials and very customer friendly staff.

The Brakspear's ales were on form and the food arrived and looked lovely, but the chicken and sausages were quite pink in the middle. I don't know about you, but I think chicken should be well cooked and definitely not pink. Luckily, no-one suffered as...More

This is a pretty pub in the heart of the beautiful Chilterns. Unfortunately our meal was far from tranquil. On a Friday evening another patron had brought their dog into the pub. Now I don't mind if the dog lies quietly, but this one didn't....More

Although busy we didn't have to wait long for our food to be served. Good food, a few chuncks of big cut chips (not my favourite, but anyway), friendly staff. And a very cosy place to sit inside. Outside, the view is just very marvelous....More

Having been stuck on motorway for nearly two hours, 3 of us arrived past the end of lunch service and we were initially refused food. However, after a bit of begging and pleading they reversed their policy, handed us the menu and asked us to...More

Not everyone is a doggie person and we would not have any problem creating a dog free zone in one of the three dining areas available. Just let us know when you are coming to visit and your requirements. We do have a small... More
