First the positives: the burgers and hot dog were excellent, breading on fish and chips very tasty. The rest: The fries were bland and disappointing, although finished by our hungry group. The ice cream was abysmal. They've changed their amazing and unique yellow french vanilla to a run of the mill white mix. Heartbreaking. And the man does NOT know... More

The food was adequate. The service was adequate. I won't be back. Not a bad place, but not impressive enough to warrant a re-visit. Plenty of off street parking. Quick service. Friendly.

My family has come to this region of Maine for generations. The Helm has always been part of it. Myself, I have never been all that overboard about it. Yes, if you want a lot to eat, many of their dishes have plenty to offer. It's rather bland food. I've never gotten the great attraction to this place and only... More

My wife and I had been in the Camden area for two days and we were in need of a salad with vegetables and greens. Jo at High Tide Inn suggested The Helm . We went and was pleasantly surprised. My wife got the salad bar and the French Onion soup and I got the salad bar and the French... More

We loved this restaurant! Salad bar is great with many selections. Had a friendly and fun waitress. They offered a whole page of specials and they have some kind of discount before 5:30pm. The Maine shrimp were delicious with a very large amount. Everything we ate was good and reasonably priced. The twice baked potato was especially yummy. Don't miss... More

The salad bar is amazing - lots of unique marinated salads in addition to traditional salad bar items. I had stuffed shrimp and they were fantastic. My daughter had the steamed clams and mussels and the portion was so generous that she couldn't finish them all.

Generous portions, superbly prepared. This is NOT "just" a seafood Maine restaurant. It has French roots, and, while the menu is not foofoo French, some of the preparations definitely show that influence. I am not a fan of salad bars, but this one is an exception. It is loaded with hand chopped fresh veg marinated 16 ways from Sunday. Chilled... More

We visited with a group of friends and everyone enjoyed the experience. The menu is extensive with plenty of variety and the salad bar is excellent. Service was excellent with no objection to separate checks for each couple. Our group had a mix of chicken, seafood and steak entrees and we heard no complaints. We were seated away in a... More

My boyfriend and I ate here, it was small inside but the menu was awesome and unique! The staff was fruitful and attentive and also the BYOB aspect was key. 10 out of 10 would def go again!

What a pleasant surprise this was! We had driven all morning and were so hungry...we saw this place and said "let's try it." The salad bar is VERY impressive...and very good. We both ordered the rib-eye steak sandwich and it was delicious. By this time, we had no room for dessert, but their dessert cart is very, very impressive. AND,... More
