Gilbert's has great fresh seafood. We had a lobster roll then a lobster BLT with a side of the chowder. The location is great, you can sit inside or outside. The staff is very friendly. Great place to relax and take a break while walking...More

A local shopkeeper recommended we go to the Chowder House. He said everything was fresh because it came straight off the boat into the restaurant. We were a little afraid of restaurants in the Port thinking they would just be tourist traps. Definitely not this...More

1st time to Portland, Maine. Had to try the reknowned lobster from Maine. It was a weekday evening, most tables were occupied but we only waited a few minutes for an available table. Reasonably priced at U$30+ per lobster-meal with fries and coleslaw. Lobster was...More

Came here because a local recommended it. We started off with fried calamari, which had too much breading. Hubby had their special of the day - 1/2 Lobster sandwich with fries and a cup of chowder while I shared a large chowder in a bread...More

The table was sticky and had to be wiped down again. The expensive fried seafood was warm, the fries were warm/cold and the coleslaw was flavorless

Great lobster roll for a good price, beware of a long wait for a table, you see a table take it as there is no one to seat you.

The best chowder in town, one of the few places that makes their's fresh daily. Highly recommended but can be a wait during busy times.

We stopped in because of the high reviews, maybe we caught them on an off day. The "crab roll" was just a mix of imitation crab and mayonnaise, not at all what I expected right off the ocean. The fish in the fish and chips...More

One of the best lobster rolls in town. Excellent chowder and great prices. Perfect spot for lunch. Menu reflected local tastes not just catering to tourists.

I went searching for the best lobster roll in the northeast. We found it at Gilbert's. Their lobster roll is full of only lobster and they will gladly give you a side of butter. Hillary was our waitress and she did a great job!

I'm not really sure... they would need plenty of time to get ready and I don't think that they're set up for large groups.. its like going to your local diner and saying " can you handle 18 for breakfast"/// maybe not....
